It appears that Ian isn't "anyone".
I wonder why she doesn't name him as the youtuber?
If you, personally, saw fit that your 14 yr old can use it, then you, personally, can add them as a user of it.IDK ,, but what if Ian's 14 yr old Daughter or son and needed it .. if he had them .. it would not go pew pew for her or him ..
If you, personally, saw fit that your 14 yr old can use it, then you, personally, can add them as a user of it.
In addition, it means that you, personally, could have this out in the open as a bedside weapon, cocked and locked, with a convicted nutjob felon relative in the house, and the court will believe that they cannot gain access to it.
So I'm not quite sure where you are going with that question.
If you, personally, saw fit that your 14 yr old can use it, then you, personally, can add them as a user of it.
Or the peeps that attend DefConWait till the Lock Picking Lawyer gets a hold of one and does his review of it's security... FWIW he's into guns.
I hate it and it will never prove to be reliable.I kinda like the idea of this if it proves to be reliable.
You're 21 years too late. This is the only gun that will be legal in New Jersey three years after it is available, unless the courts (meaning the Supreme Court of the United States, because no other court will) overturn it.Unfortunately, once this is out there I can see the technology being legislated upon us.
Yes, it includes the shitty little dock that will be useless in a few years along with the gun.Does the price include a battery charger?
While I agree, the anti's will try to use it as a club to legislate the requirement, most of the NJ law was gutted in 2019. From your link:You're 21 years too late. On July 16, 2019 Gov. Murphy signed into law a bill[2] which repealed substantially all of the original Childproof Handgun Law and replaced it with a requirement that after the state Attorney General approves a production model each firearms retailer in the state would be required to carry and display at least one smart gun on their shelves with "a sign... disclosing the features of personalized handguns that are not offered by traditional handguns".[2]

While I have no problem with people having the CHOICE to buy one, IF they want, I can see this being the next push on many fronts. Time will tell if it's complete crap, or not, I guess.

I definitely agree with many of your points of obsolescence of electronics, Its a very valid point as is proprietary software, hardware and even magazines. In two years when the battery is dead what does the owner do? A person who owns this is not going to put thousands of rounds down it. They are going to pop off a magazine on day one put it in their nightstand and likely never touch it again. I bet 90% of people that buy a pistol for protection fall into this group. They buy it, have to training or inclination, and it sits in a drawer. Its not marketed totwrds "gun people". At that price point I am not really sure who they are going after? Until they can get it to maybe the $500 range its not going to do anything other than be made fun of.I never liked Ian much, although he sometimes put out a few interesting videos, and now what little respect I have for him is completely lost.
He's a total marketing shill in his "review."
I could go into much more detail, but everything about this "smart" gun is complete bullshit; awful, through and through.
If the issue is unsecured guns in a house where kids or someone could get them, then put the guns in a safe. If you want biometrics, put the biometrics on a safe. Gimping up a gun with connector ports, circuit boards and sensors is a recipe for disaster. This gun is an expensive monstrosity. Do not give this shit the time of day.
We've had expensive toys with batteries, connector ports, circuit boards and sensors to go on guns for a long time. We put them on rails. They fail, become obsolete and unsupported. For a defensive weapon we have to insist that the gun still operate without them, and that they can be replaced. This is an overengineered piece of shit system designed to make the gun inoperable that comes with a fucking electronic dock. Go ahead and reply to this thread in 10 years and tell me you bought on of these things, put thousands of rounds through it and the same gun is still working fine for you. Won't happen. Much better odds the company is out of business and the gun is a brick you can't even buy magazines for.
Do you really want a GUN that's more smartphone than gun? A gun that's not readily serviceable, completely proprietary and put together by some fly-by-night? What's the average age of a smartphone versus a gun you daily carry or keep at your bedside?
And again, he says it's too big to be a practical carry gun; it's a bedside gun. So, have a bedside safe and a NORMAL FUCKING GUN that WORKS. We do not need this and it's literally only folks that want to ban guns and force us to use this shit that are in favor of it.
I hate it and it will never prove to be reliable.

This gun won't even shoot if it's left in a drawer and forgotten. The battery dies and it won't turn on! They should just buy a Glock BB gun replica to wave around and save the money if they're not going to have a gun that shoots and they know how to operate.I definitely agree with many of your points of obsolescence of electronics, Its a very valid point as is proprietary software, hardware and even magazines. That is why it is stored in the cradle, to keep it charged. This gun won't even shoot if it's left in a drawer and forgotten. The battery dies and it won't turn on! To clarify, and you probably realize it, but my battery charger question was actually in jest.Yes, it includes the shitty little dock that will be useless in a few years along with the gun.
Liberty Doll got it right with the "Elizabeth Holmes" vibes. Rather than signing up for this overpriced shitty gun that may never exist get 3 G19's and a few mags to spare. Or one G19, a really nice gun safe that works, and a few loaded mags.
