Darth not a bad argument but as far as I know out side of a piss or blood test there is no way of testing for impairment with pot. saying that we already have drunk drivers it's ok to have stoned drivers seems a bit strange to me. we already have murders so lets have more murders. that seems to go on and on. I think that every one on this forum supports gun rights but i doubt that there are many that would support every one having a nuke. me thinks this needs a whole lot more consideration before we move foward

Hence we don't say "it's OK to have drunk drivers." We have legal alcohol, and laws preventing an entirely unrelated matter called impaired driving. Wether that be drunk, on prescription drugs, overly tired etc.

As for the nuke thing, I'm one of the few. What exactly is preventing someone wanting to commit mass genocide from obtaining a nuke right now? A piece of paper saying "don't do this?" I doubt it.

Though the iTunes EULA does say that. Seriously, it says to not use the software to build nukes. Look it up.

You can fail a field sobriety test and be charged with dui and blow zero on the breathalyzer. Impaired is not just alcohol.

That said stoned drivers tend to be overly cautious where drunks are the opposite. That's the general rule but obviously isn't always the case.

I'd say make it legal for medical use first, then total legalization a year later, if there's enough proof of it not being detrimental to society.
While I can't do any drugs because of work regulations, my wife(who's been battling leukemia and winning thank God) could use it to help her relax after her treatments. We've traveled to other states for her to try edibles, and it's helped her, but we don't want to take the chance of being caught with it in our possession.
I've known and have been around stoners for decades.
While I know it effect's everyone differently, I've seen more damage done to society with legal drug consumption ,compared to marijuana consumption.
Personally, I think some people should be required to smoke pot instead of taking some type of mind altering pill.

Medical marijuana has been legal for pretty much 4 years here in NY. And years in other states

Why the waiting period of a year?

I had to wait a year once for something the government had no right to take away. Had to pay a bunch of money too. Get references, fingerprinted, provide a "good cause" reason...

I have no problem with legalization, but find it funny that this is seen as such a priority issue, given the actual problems we have in NY.

Tried it in high school, but it didn't do anything for me, unless you count delaying my DoD security clearance a few years later. Security officer said I should be honest about any "experimentation".

On the other hand, when my Dad was dying, my niece brought some oil from Colorado (on a plane!) that helped him get some real relief. 3 drops under the tongue and he was able to get a few hours of sleep every night.

It has nothing to do with the state. Marijuana is Federally prohibited, it's like the 4th question on any 4473. So either you check yes on the are you "addicted" or use (cant remember the exact wording) illegal drugs and you get denied or you lie on it and well hope you dont get caught (other option in other states would be f2f and then it's a non issue)

This is why there needs to be a federally change. Not just a state level

Of course we could try and make edibles with whats offered, but it would be easier to just buy them, and I don't want to be accidentally exposed to it, as we have a no tolerance policy where I work.

The information and studies for CANNABIS have been around for decades. The only real research is the reason the feds prohibited it in the first place back in the mid 30s. 1934 was it? Hmmmm, same as the NFA act.

Again the feds are a private corporate entity.

People have been fucking smoking weed for who knows how long, the founding fathers grew that shit. The only reason there was a prohibition on it was because it was cutting into other tycoons cash money later down the line.
