Idk. In a very tight situation with multiple people the protection of the weapon is key. It looks like his technique of keeping the weapon tight to him is what he is trying to do. Creating distance would be my priority.
In the demo, you can actually see him flag his bicep. I would never want to get that close to someone with a firearm either.

IIRC, the mark near his nose was gotten during a under-cover buy gone bad and he got hit with a breaker bar, or something,
I've grappled with him (this was over 15 years ago - probably 2006) and he is the toughest guy I've ever met. He bruised my torso up really bad, and I never figured out how he did it.

I always draw my weapon into a body position with my weapon in a high 2-hand grip with my wrists touching my chest - sort of a high and tight.
You can always punch out from there, and come back in.
If you're getting close to a FUT (fucked up tangle) and need to use your weapon in almost a body-to-body contact position, we were taught (assuming right handedness) to protect the face and keep the attacker away by presenting a high left elbow with the left arm bent, and even gripping your right shoulder.
If you had to shoot, you index your weapon to the right side of your chest, below the bent left arm. It's not fun with hot gases and brass flying, but you are able to put "rounds out".
Done it while lightly leaning my head on a silhouette target. It takes some practice to get your indexing correct to get effective shots.

This is what I thought of when I read the title since it’s titled advance shooting techniques in a crowd or something like that. It makes some sense to me for sure. I avoid crowd but with these pop up mobs or whatever you just never know anymore. Also it keeps you pistol kind of concealed while ready to shoot. To me this isn’t great and you have very limited shooting angles and you’d be pointing the gun at tons of people you don’t intend to shoot and what’s rule number one? Would not be my first choice in any situation.
locking that pistol into the elbow I can see being prone with issues... too many to undo should someone grab you from the wrong angle, etc. plus the damned thing is right next to his ear, that isn't going to work out well either... Elbow out, creating space, hand free to push and create more, with firearm tight to chest, high ready, etc... yeah. No need to reinvent what works... besides, if it was SHTF a round in the air would clear everyone out fast! lol...

I like to keep an open mind on the tactical evolution and re-evolution of techniques. I guess this technique can be applied in certain extremely special protection team situations. Even that might be a stretch. If your protection team in surrounded in a crowd like this, guns out, there were so many other failures that brought you there that need to be addressed. If the crowd is unfriendly you are going to die. Period. Especially if you dressed like everyone else and cannot identify yourself properly while flagging people with your gun.

What do you think of temple index? I get why it could be useful but someone walking up behind you and grabbing the barrel does not sound appealing. Also seems like it would disrupt your hearing.
