I'd rather the goddam DOJ put resources towards finishing Durham's investigation first. What is this announcement designed to do? Barr has announced a few "investigations" but I don't see much evidence of any progress with any of them. Is this just PR to placate us rubes that actually believe people in power should be held accountable for their actions? I don't believe qualified immunity for a state office can protect you from federal criminal charges.

I was speaking to someone who I know watches CNN, etc (ad naseum - and I don't mean how much they watch) and they said "Trump is doing this for political points, since they aren't investigating all the Republican States that had high nursing home deaths.

Funny... None of the states with republican governors sent sick people into nursing homes.

At best, it was a panic driven bad decision to put sick people back in nursing homes.

At worst, it was a political decision that put optics over saving lives. The fact that the 4 governors who were trying to capitalize on the Chinese virus the most made this decision -while no other governors did, while no hospitals were over capacity, while temporary hospitals were left unused - makes me think there may be criminal negligence or malfeasance.

Tell that to family members who lost parents and grand parents. I have no medical training, but even I know that putting Covid positive patients in nursing homes was a real dumb idea at best. I would volunteer criminal.
