You literally have to look out for self preservation first and foremost. Even if you feel like you're being evasive to the police and it goes against your beliefs it's in your interest.

Just say something vague like "I was just the victim of a crime and this is an extremely traumatic and stressful situation for me I am not able to process information right now and want a medical exam and speak with an attorney before I answer any questions".

Although what GOP said is probably the better option, saying less is best.
