Head line is very misleading. Yes he tried to hobble away but that’s not when they shot him. They only shot him when he turned at them with the knife. Yes the knife is visible to me as well. Fucking media.

Simple, the News media wants you to feel sorry of the criminal, vilify the Cops, and incite the people into riotous behavior, which will lead to more news stories that can be sold to advertisers because more people are paying attention. A man with a knife is a deadly threat fully justifying deadly force.
A man with no legs and a knife, less so.
If he had a ranged weapon, sure, light him up.
But a dude who can only crawl after you and only has a contact based weapon ? Are you *really* in fear for your life over that ? Would *you* consider him enough of a threat *you* would have shot him ?
Taser him, or call animal control and have them use one of those collar on a stick things. I'm sure the news would have a field day with that visual, but the dude would still be breathing.
Also, the use of the phrase "running away" is probably not quite appropriate in this situation LOL.

He was running away pretty good in the video to me. Looked like he was getting to throw the knife, the deadly weapon at the officers. The same knife that he just used to stab an innocent person, nearly stabbed to death.

I watched the video.
I would not have been in fear for my life or serious injury in that situation. And not for anyone else's *at that moment*.
What he had just done proves he had motive and mindset to be a serious danger, but the physical reality of the situation was that he didn't have the means to inflict it anymore.
IN the real world, we are better off without him, so it's a net benefit. But, rules of deadly force are the same for cops and anyone else. I can't see anyone here suggesting it would have been wise for a CCer to have shot in that situation.
This is one of those stories, situations that I kind of do not really care about. I do not care at all that he was shot. Him being dead, it is his fault and his fault alone. I do not know if the Police were scared, in fear for their lives or in fear for the lives of others.

In time we'll see what the facts are/were, hopefully all the facts, and accurately. But from what I see on the video, it seems to me that the LEOs could have handled this one a whole lot differently. Regardless, this will lead to more defund the police and or reimagine policing.

Well, he proved he could stab someone with the element of surprise on his side.
But he no longer had that. Pretty sure his ability to catch someone unaware enough to stab them was gone.
Dude can hop along pretty well, but I don't think the Tueller drill applies to him quite the same.
A guy with a knife is not a deadly threat unless he is close enough to stab someone.
A normal guy with a knife standing in an open field 100 yards away from anyone would be a bad shoot, no matter what he had done 5 mins ago.
This guy doesn't need 100 yards to no longer be a threat.
The STANDING rules of deadly force were not met in this encounter with law enforcement. The officers should be held accountable and STAND trial since race and disability have nothing to do with it. I will STAND MY GROUND on this one...

But the guy can't lunge without legs, that makes him not much of a danger if you keep your distance.
