You looking to sell them? Groenewold fur usually does a couple runs with stops in the area and buys on the spot.

If I get a nice coyote with a good coat, I would like to find someone to clean up the pelt and make is wall ready. I can skin it, but that's about it. Unless I head over to YouTube university and get instruction on it. lol

They will only buy the stretched and dried fur. There's a few places you could take it and have them process it for tanning.

If you are so desired to try and skin flesh and stretch the pelt yourself, I have the stuff and could give you some pointers as you go along. They aren't worth anything at market so if you F it up it isn't like you are loosing $. I've never tried tanning a hide but I'm sure YouTube has plenty of videos after it's dried.

I am well aware that there is really no market for the fur. I have buddy out in Ohio that hunts them year around for sport. He said a lot less hunting pressure on coyotes now because there isn't an money in the fur. It's probably the same here in NY. Although he said that the "yotes" he shoots look terrible, not healthy at all because the population is too large and food supply low. The coyotes I have seen here in Westchester look healthy and about 35-40lbs some of them. I'm sure they're eating well I see plenty of post signs for missing dogs and cats. lol
I'll be heading up in a few weeks to the Catskill area to a buddies, group families, joining properties to see if we can take a couple of them. Tracks all over the place. Bobcat and fox as well. The deer population on the land lacks yearlings and the deer hunters that go up annually are concerned about long term viability of the herd on their hunting land. They found young deer carcasses during the past season.

Lots of trappers arent running heavy if at all because fur prices are so low. Being busy plus the market I haven't set anything in 2 years now. It's a great time to hunt them with populations being high.

Anyone know what fur prices are actually running? - Many years ago, we were getting an average of $ 33 for coon, for green fur, not stretched & dried, rats would average around $ 7, and a good red fox could bring $ 125. We hunted the coon, not trapping them, and averaged about 150 coon per year, hunting them. It was some decent money for acting crazy in the woods at night, just saying.

That must have been many many years ago. You are looking at like a $7 average for coon, $1 for a rat, fox maybe $10. This is put up fur also.
