Downstate IDPA?

I want to start researching IDPA in the downstate area. Does anybody know who runs or hosts local matches in the downstate area?

Dutchess County Pistol Association (dcpistol.org) in Wappingers hosts monthly I believe. Looks like they hosted one 9/10 and next is 10/8.

They also do Practical Action League (PAL) on Tuesday nights. Essentially a mini IDPA. You get to run through 3 stages for a modest $5 as a non member. Used to do it a lot but schedule changes making it difficult lately. Have yet to do an official IDPA match.

shoot USPSA. WAY more fun! WAY! WAY! WAY! more fun. while IDPA totes itself as a "defensive" shooting style, real world etc etc it is not. it is just a game just like uspsa. nothing real world about either one.

dutchess pistol is good. obcats in NJ runs an EXCELLENT uspsa match as well. may be the best match around. it takes me 1:45 to get there and i go almost every month. yes, i take my pistol into NJ. no worries no problem......even hollow points. (correct you CAN use hollow points for hunting and practice in NJ. REALLY!)

My range runs matches now every month I believe. It's on SI and very easy to get to as it is right next to the Outerbridge. If you go, I'll do one also. Haven't done it yet.

I'll second DCPA. I'm a member there, and we have monthly IDPA matches, and monthly USPSA matches. We also do monthly Steel Challenge shoots if you're interested. Come on by tuesday nights for the Practical Action League. Lots of cool people there, and it's a lot of fun.

Black Rock in Mountainville (Cornwall) , Orange County, has steel plate 3x a month. Practices are first and last Tuesday nights (5 -9), match is rhe 3rd Saturday of the month, 9am until done. I believe it is USPSA
