Now THIS is outstanding! If you have less than 30' head the shallow water version of this pump would also work. Indoors if desired.
Not certain how practical this feature is but apparently these pumps will pressurize the well tank for delivery throughout the house.
I've seen one of these hand pumps for around $500 without the black pipe. I wish I could find where it was.

During extended periods of shtf to have an adequate supply of clean water as this pump would supply would be a god send . A water filter is fine but If the grid goes down for an extended period the pressure canner will be working overtime . That alone will take a lot of clean water ... Then you have baths ,washing clothes and the like ... If it is just to keep the little woman happy . A generator is great but at times it will not start and perhaps you would not need one that has 220 and one can spend less money .

Exactly.
Additionaly, if radioactive fallout were to be an issue then well water would be the only safe ongoing source.

The water in the ground came from the surface at some point. After a radiological event, the radioactive water at the surface will eventually migrate down.

Ah, I see what you're saying. I believe that with fallout the water itself is not radioactive, rather the particulates/dust are radioactive. So just like the earth filters well water during for us right now, so would it in a radioactive fallout environment.
This is why any water source exposed to the atmosphere (pond, pool, lake, or even tarp/raindance) will be problematic in a fallout scenario.

I don't know how it works with fallout, but I know of one community - Harriman, Ny - which found out the vilage well is located in an aquifer with radioactive rock formations. The water its self - not particulates in the water - is radioactive.
Yep! I got 22,500 gallons of pristine water just waiting to be boiled, lol... And enough ammo to protect it.
Not worried about radioactivity, not one bit, lol. If Armageddon comes in the form of radioactive fallout in the area we live in, then nothing is going to help, fresh water be damned ; )

About 6-8 drops of regular plain Clorox type bleach is enough to sanitize 1 gallon of water. Its also a lot more energy efficient than boiling.

Instead of being alone with 10,000 rounds I would choose 5,000 rounds with four friends LOL. 1000 rounds each person.

Nepera is a whole different animal. They used some nasty chemicals there and I have a feeling the damage is still being done, even after the buildings and plant were torn down.

i have a creek a few hundred yards from me .. been drinking it since i was a teen while swimming in it ... big lake a few miles away and drank a lot of that water too while tubing and water skiing ... i know of a open well at where i hunt , was drinking that from the bucket on the rope since in was 6 .. never had a issue ..
