Taking a drive to Virginia Beach soon, and want to bring some of my guns for some range time down there. Anyone have some info or advise? Things I should and should not do. Thanks.

Look at real estate listings? That's what I always do when I'm in that neighborhood anyway....both on the VA and NC sides of the border. Oh, you meant about firearms... well, that depends on what firearms (long guns, handguns, etc) and whether or not you plan on carrying, what permits you possess, etc.
Assuming you mean handguns. Do some research on the firearm laws at your destination and how to transport legally through states where you are not licensed. Generally you are safe to transport from A to B provided 1) firearms and ammo in separate locked containers not in reach of driver, 2) you don't make extended stops along the way (e.g. for sightseeing, visiting relatives, etc) and 3) are licensed/not prohibited from possessing firearms at your end points.
There are several free apps out there that contain the info (state by state laws and reciprocity) including CCW and Legal Heat. NRA also has info on its site. IANAL so do your homework.

Do not go over the speed limit. VA cops love to right NYers tickets. Otherwise have fun and fill the car with ammo for the ride back. Lol

Stay away fron New Jersey
VA is now very friendly, you don't need a non-resident permit... If you are legal where you live, you're legal there! Transport safe would be to follow previously posted advise, but VA only requires the firearm to be "wrapped" in the trunk, lol... Hahaha
