Usually about 4 days for me....
Stuck in Rockland for a while yet..... so I have been seeing a lot about Judge Loftus running for a spot on the county bench. I haven't been able to find his party affiliation or stand on the Constitution. Not even on his website. Inquirers are directed to said website. Anybidy know?
I completely agree. I'm up in Rensselaer Country (very gun friendly) but my judge is not pro gun and takes his time with amendments. I was told he has taken up to 3 months. I'm currently waiting for an amendment for a pistol my father is giving me. He said it best when he said "that it is very wrong when judges get to play politics with a purely administrative function". All that should have to happen is you buy the gun, take the bill of sale to the clerk and they put the gun on your permit and give you the release ticket. Judges shouldn't be involved after the initial issuing of the permit unless there is good reason (ie you shot someone or violated your restrictions). There should at the very least be a time limit to how long a judge can take before approving or denying an amendment. The fact that they can deny you a handgun after issuing you a permit is beyond fucked up.First of all!
Needing a permit is a BS infringement
Needing to ask permission to add a handgun to an existing permit is even more BS.
Having to WAIT for some beaurocrat to sign off when hes good and ready is even worse.
Try living in wastechester where TWICE it took over 2 months for me to get my permission slip.
Yeah, it's a pile of BS. Up here in Rensselaer county the previous clerk got the boot and to the best of my knowledge is facing criminal charges for bypassing the judges and just putting pistols on peoples permits. Every county does it differently which is weird and it is really crazy how despite being a NYS permit, the only uniformity between the counties is the actual application form. Everything else varies by county. Most of the judges up here have a turn around time between an hour and a week for approving permits. My judge....takes his time, so you never know.Wow, I had no idea that some of you guys have to go thru this! Even here in Nassau and Suffolk county, you can buy as many as you want and just go down and pay the document fee for each one, then go get them. I have bought as many as 6 at one time!

Rockland here!
they always say 2 weeks, but my last 2-3 amendments took less than 5 days.
