Dry fire training

With the election seemingly going to Biden I would think ammo and gun prices will remain high for the foreseeable future. Talking with some friends who are broke they are having trouble spending $100 on ammo and not wanting to deplete my stash purchased at $0.20/round to buy $0.80/round stuff to replace it I’m looking into more dry firing practice.
Looking at three things.
straight up dry firing drills/practice. I do some trigger work and draw work but looking to expand it now.
Laser trainings. I dont have one and think it might be a wise investment at this point.
Also looking at something that would allow dry trigger reset training at home.
Any thoughts or resources shared would be appreciated. Any equipment recommendations would be great. I’m looking at doing this with two others and two or three of my guns so a laser trainer that isn’t gun specific would be great.

I have a SIRT gun, This one is modeled after a G17 I have the M&P model as I have a full size M&P so it works with the same holsters. There is also a compact model I believe.

It uses an app on your phone or tablet.
+ It is compact and (relatively) east to setup.
- You need a different laser for each caliber.
- Matching the phone camera's view to the target can be finicky

take a look at something called the coolfire training system. Replaces your bbl with a co2 filled bbl that you can refill from paintball tanks. Cycles your action just like when shooting ammo, although the recoiI changes a bit as the co2 charge drops. I have one, it's not perfect but it can be of value. Unfortunately, not cheap, but way cheaper than what it costs to buy ammo these days.

I just took them both out and the SIRT has bite lighter trigger the the factory trigger, And it also has a trigger reset like a real gun.

I have the iTarget which will work with the red laser only ( my SIRT is red on the trigger squeeze then green on the trigger break, but I can reverse the wires.)

That is a good exercise for trigger squeeze and such, but wouldn't help with drawing and firing from the holster and point of aim and such.

I also have a M&P full size in 22lr as I'm in good shape for 22 ammo, been shooting steel with it since last year. I took some razing for it from some of the others at my Club, but now some of them are running short of ammo or reloading components they are breaking out their 22's.

If you go to Laser-Ammo.com and check out their laser cartridges you’ll probably find everything you need to use your own guns for dry fire practice. They even sell shotgun adaptors that you place the 9mm laser cartridge in. They have their own software but requires a pc. You can find stuff for free in the iOS and Android stores that will register laser hits on a paper target. If you want to step it up but still stay mobile then check out LASR-X software. It’s web ( browser) based and will run on any mobile device and use the built in camera for tracking laser hits on targets.

Is it a worthwhile investment? I've been recently looking at various options. I want a dedicated "pistol" for dry fire training but didnt want to tie up an actual pistol or buy another for that reason. I was thinking of a polymer 80 and using one of those reset trigger assemblies. But I'm assuming the polymer 80 would need to be fully machined? There is also the option of using an airsoft gun with the laser ammo conversion, but i have to do some research to figure out with airsoft gun works aside from the ones they offer.

For me it was a good invested as I am also a NRA Rifle/Pistol instructor and I also have a use for it when I give the new member orientation at my Club.

And as I mentioned I have the M&P full size I also have the M&P 22 full size with both set up with Vortex Venom 6 MOA that I shoot Steel and USPSA (M&P 40/9) with.
