Dry Firing Practice- Boring!!

I have to say I bought the 365 dry fire mag and I am not pleased with it at all. I was really excited to get it and use it. The reason I am disappointed is the trigger pull weight with it is so light and I would say it’s less than half the weight of my guns pull weight. Some are adjustable and you can get heavier springs but this doesn’t not appear to have that option. I was able to adjust the pull length to be similar to my gun. I would also say the first trigger pull is the same as the reset length as well. I emailed them to return it and I never heard back from them. I can’t recommend them as a company or their company.

I was thinking of getting the 365 mag but spent so much on the Quest 3 VR + ACE setup (so far I have over 3,000 rounds in that, very cool system).

I use the LASR system with inserts. I also use it to start the boresight on guns I install Optics on. Great for drills. After my workout all tired and adrenalized I do drills. I can use it for my pistols and rifles. When it’s -45 sure is nice. It is also a nice crawl, walk, run phase for my teaching. Drills, malfunction practice, for be tuning fundamentals, improving accuracy, bridging weather and range availability, and having privacy are all benefits of it. Me be has paid for itself many times over.

I try but get so bored doing 10 minutes.
I watched a video about using a blowback airsoft Glock 19 so it feels the same as my carry gun.
I’d be shoot in my basement.

What’s your thoughts on this?
Anyone do this?

This is my "dry" training. I do this with an airsoft glock 17 now as I eventually killed my Glock 19 that I was using for about 10 years. I also have an AR rifle so I can practice transitions, mag changes, shooting and moving, etc... i train in my basement in the winter, and in my yard in the mild weather. The GBB guns dont work right in the cold do to how it effects the gas. The recoil is NIT the same, but its enough that you have to reacquire your sight picture.

My Airsoft glock is an UMAREX glock 17(best there is in my opinion). It fits my holsters (99%). I dont do mag drops inside as the concrete floor will damage them, but i can in the yard.

I sent them the email prior to Christmas. It’s not the end of the world to me so I won’t make a huge deal about it. If you want to try the 365 mag let me know but I don’t see much of a point in building muscle memory up on a trigger that’s half the weight because I’ll get used to the pull at that weight. I had a pocket pistol with a long heavy pull and every so often I’d pull the trigger and it wouldn’t go bang. The lack of bang was because I didn’t pull it back far enough. The trigger pull was way longer than my normal carry pistol and a lot heavier as well. That’s the only gun I’ve ever sold so I don’t want to train myself to do the same on this gun. I have the standard dry fire mag and not the smart one.

I do not think that I have done dry fire drills. I am not sure I understand the point of them.

Because internet gun experts SAY it's good.....duh.

I have a laser shooting gallery. This target system can be set up to light up the targets in random order to keep you on your toes.

Having a range in my yard, I get a lot of friends who want to shoot.....almost daily during nice weather.
I used to be very into this. The last few years I just let them shoot sometimes.
Now that even 9mm ammo is so expensive, I refrain from shooting quite often.
Unfortunately most of my friends are the type that like to just stand and fire from 7-25 yards, straight at the target.....no drills.
If they want to play shooting games or do some drills, I'm in.

I find static shooting "boring", unless im going for precision behind a rifle. I prefer shooting and moving, timed drills etc...

I use airsoft to practice drills for (basically) free. And also to get some reps in when i dont have time to do live fire.

I think this is the route I will go. I have a big enough garage that I now have cleaned out I can set up targets and cover to shoot and move from. Nothing breakable in there either. I can hang some steel from the rafters at different heights too.

i struggled with trying to find a dry fire system that would work for me and I didn't find much. I did settle on using dry fire for specific drills only, and it has actually worked out. no need for any special tools. But you need to back up dry fire with actual shooting as well. one doesn't replace the other, but there are uses for each.

my resolution this year was to shoot better (and more) so i've standardized around one platform with red dot optic. My practice is always the following

Dry fire - blue tape drill. Really good drill for red dot target acquisition. I will practice from low ready to on target, then practice from holster to on target, both with and without tape. I do these for about 10 minutes a day

Then at the range i try to get there once a week. I shoot 50 rounds static, slow fire, at a regular target. Focusing on trigger pull only
Then 50 rounds from low ready to on target and fire a round, then 2
Then 50 rounds from draw to on target and 2 center mass, one head
then with the last 50 of the day, I load 2 rds in each of 2 mags. I practice 2 rounds center mass, then reload and 2 rounds head.

My goal for the entire session is zero unaccounted for rounds - nothing that would have missed my target and hit something behind it.

After a couple weeks I'm already seeing huge improvements in my shooting, and its alot more fun than just shooting at the center of a piece of paper. I'm going to start working dummy rounds into my mags at some point o practice malfunctions too. All just to make me better at self defense shooting.

Drawing from concealment and getting on target is huge. Using my airsoft to practice this led to dub second first round hits from concealment.
