Well done. From the thread title, I thought this was because of me.
Heres the story.
On opening day of regular season this year I was entering my property on the line between my property and NY state land.
I saw a car parked about 200 yards down the road, on stateland property.
I stepped into the woods on my property.
While I was loading my gun I heard a voice say, "you are standing between 3 hunters".
I looked toward the voice and saw a guy sitting against a tree on my posted property.
He was dressed in a blue flannel shirt, blue jeans and tan work boots.
He was also drinking a Keystone Ice tall boy.
There was another can next to him, turned over, I assumed it was empty.
This was 7:15 am.
So, I decided to tell him he was 20 yards off the stateland and that he was on my property.
As I started walking I heard a vehicle coming.
I saw that it was a DEC SUV.
So instead I walked out of the woods.
The DEC officer stopped and asked if I had seen anything.
I said, "no deer but that guy is tresspassing and drinking beer".
The officer says, "what? Who? Where?
I pointed at the drinker who was only 40 feet into the woods.
The officer pulled over and got out.
I said, "have a nice day" and walked down the road.
I wanted to hunt, not deal with this situation.
I have no idea what happened.
Also, I did tell the officer it was my property and my info was on the signs. He said, "good enough"
He was piss drunk in the morning, what a winner.
I work nights so I can relate to that. However, I'm not about to get home from work, get blasted, then grab a gun and go hunting. There is a personal responsibility aspect that this person is probably missing.Maybe it was not his morning.
