Dutchess County Permit wait time?

I'm in Ulster. Have many friends in Dutchess. One was told by a sheriff they aren't issuing anything. Just timing out the applications. Ulster is pretty similar, anyone who had a grandfathered permit in the system was forced to pull that permit app 'voluntarily' and submit to the CCIA changes. Not many licenses issued here since CCIA. Have a friend who is a female EMT/security/fire in Ulster who is over 16 months now. All calls to licensing official say app is good and in queue. NYSP doesn't check criminals Facebook accounts...

I call bullshit. Permits are being issued in Dutchess. Two people I know, showed me their permits (and subsequent ammendments for handguns and Semi long guns) this weekend. I was a reference.
These people started well after the CCIA took effect. From the time I told them about the new FUKH bullshit it took less than 6 months from the time they started thinking about it, filling out applications, taking a 16 hour course, submitting applications, and getting permits in mail. They've had their permits maybe two to three months now.

I did a quick check (with some Dutchess club members about new members, an FFL for new ammendment seekers, and a few new permit holders I helped) and the consensus is the Dutchess office is slammed with applications, heard a new judge is signing too, and it seems it's taking 6 to 9 months with a few people quicker and a few longer. This is also the conclusion on other internet chatter.

Yeah, hearing she does not work at the same pace Eddie or even Judge Brown when he was loaned to Dutchess worked, but my understanding is her approval rate is the same (e.g. she is not looking for excuse to stall or deny). I also heard that there are recent weeks when applications or ammendments spike. Let us know when you get your new permit.

Mine took I think over 6 months, but less than I year if I recall. But this was a while ago, over 10 years ago I think.

There should be a criminal prosecution of authorities who let the rights of others wait this long. This is a denial of a right. Anything over a month should be considered a criminal denial of rights.

Isn't the legal limit they have 6 months? This seems illegal. I'd call a lawyer. A letter from a law firm might make the county move their ass if they know they're liable, and make a lawyer an easy pro-bono case. Don't know.

The problem is that now some offices have gone to the old excuse that the law (of which so many in New Yorkistan are poorly written and "open" to "interpretation") only applies to once the file has gone up to the judge, and "he has 6 months to decide yay or nay".
Such a fucking pile of horseshit. SSDD. Ugh!
If money were not an issue (unfortunately, it almost always is...), I would file a lawsuit (class action if possible), for Deprivation of Civil rights under color of law, and anything else I could think of, and name every fucking person anywhere along the chain that I could, - from the individual clerks in the PP office, to the judge, and their clerk, the County Executive, the County Attorney, and whoever else I could think of. Drag those assholes thru the New Yorkistan legal system to the maximum extent possible. And don't just sue to get your permit, - sue for personal damages from stress, loss of marital companionship. EVERYTHING.

10 or 12 years ago, we had this problem in Nassau County. The solution was to start submitting Article 78's to the local government. You will need people willing to be listed as plaintiffs with legal standing. I'm not a lawyer and I will not try to explain this. You will need a pro 2A lawyer to start. It costs money to file an article 78. The members of the "other" local gun forum started agreeing to fund the Nassau program. You Dutchess County people should get together and just talk to a 2A lawyer and get a clue how this works. Then come here ask for donations. The law is six months, and the local Government has to deal with Article 78's. They hate to be told what to do. It worked in Nassau County and was fixed before it cost too much. I can't help more than this, but I saw it work. Good luck.

That’s the case in most states in the union. Here they won’t even allow you to handle a fucking handgun without showing your permit at a store ! Down right un American.
Now I wonder if you must produce your semi auto rifle permit to handle a 10/22 at a gun store?

Not following the state mandate of six months has to be a violation that is actionable, else there would be no mandate. Do a little research on that issue, if self help isn't doable, one visit to an attorney with second amendment cred's should steer you in the right direction. I'm sorry this shit hole state is doing this to you and wish you only the best.
