That, or he just couldn't find it and it is still leaning against that big rock. When I was a teenager I and a friend found an old Remington Rolling Block carbine leaning against an old tree. Part of the barrel was grown into the tree. We got it out and the things was all rusted to hell. No idea how long it was there.
