Tomorrow, November 5th is Election Day.
Just a reminder to get out there and do your civic duty.

Go. Vote. These local elections have been decided by less than 6 votes, and sometimes by 1 vote. Elections have consequences.Tomorrow, November 5th is Election Day.

Just made a post in the thread about my run for office. Couldn't agree more. Local elections matter! Maybe even more than state and national ones. Interesting thing that happened to me today when I went to vote they asked for my address (never's happened before) and also you sign electronically with a tablet (no more books).

Same here. The wife and youngest voting daughter were with me as well.My wife and I voted today. Always do.
I like rule(s) number 1 & 3I always vote, and this time i think the candidates are more confused and desperate than usual. NY/Sullivan/Mamakating candidates are running as "Democratic-Republicans", "Conservative-Democrats", "Con-Dem-Rep-Ind", and every other possible combination. I have a formula I developed a number of years ago to select a candidate.
1. Never for a Democrat
2. Conservative across the line, accept where:
A. There is no Conservative candidate, orB. Also endorsed by any/all of the following parties: Dem, Lib, Green, WF, RH3. Republican across the line, accept where:
A. There is no Republican candidate
B. Also endorsed by any/all of the following parties: Dem, Lib, Green, WF, RH
3. Consider 3rd party candidates(Ind, Lib), unless:
A. They are also endorsed by Green, WF, or RHB. Have same candidate as DemC. I can't think of something funny to write-in4. Write-in, either:
A. MyselfB. Micky MouseC. Fuck New York
Historically, I only get to #4 for one office on an entire ballot. This time I voted 4C for at least half of the ballot. Sample ballot is attached if you are interested.
I voted, too.
Here's the process all of you voters did or will need to go through to vote :
1) You will be asked for the first 3 letters of your last name, then the first 3 letters of your first name and then your address.
2) You then will sign your name on an electronic tablet. The tablets replace the paper log book you used to use for signing in at your polling site.
3) Once you are signed in, and after two poll workers initial the sign in page on the tablet, you will get your paper ballot. For me , the paper ballot listed the candidates for each office plus had a place for write-in. As in the past, you need to fill in the little ovals to select the candidates of your choice.
4) Last, you cast your ballot. For me, that meant inserting my ballot into a ballot reading machine and waiting for the message "ballot successfully cast".
This is the first year in which NYS had 9 days of early voting, in addition to today's Election Day. The electronic tablets are needed to prevent someone from voting more than one time , using the name of a specific registered voter. After you are signed in by the poll worker using the tablet, that data is uploaded to a server and presumably prevents a person using that name from voting again in this election. If it were not for the tablets, computers, software and the system, people could cast multiple votes by voting at more than voting site during the early voting period.
The poll worker told me that the signature I created today on the tablet replaced the one which was on record and which for me, was a signature I created several decades ago.
PLEASE GO VOTE.
Thanks to those of you who did vote !
Me too. Done it so many times I'm in the express laneI walked in to the polling station, I said hi. I gave the guy my last night, signed a paper book, grabbed my paper ballot. Took about thirty seconds to fill in the circles and fed the ballot into the machine. About two minutes start to finish.
DittoWe still use the paper books.
no ID required.
See my post above for my formula. I created #4C due to that particular candidateFirst time I recall seeing this.

450 ppl in the whole town? Can't imagine why there's a "village".We do not have electronic books.
Its still the old school paper books.
Also, they ask for your entire first and ladt name....and address.......and district........which there are only 2 here......in the village, or outside the village.
We have about 450 residents total in both districts.
I told you guys I live in a very rural area!
Around here ive noticed that when a politician runs unopposed.......like most did this time.........small community.First time I recall seeing this.
