Good for them and stay out if that’s what they want. Freaking jerks stealing their land. How is it good for the environment with them taking all this land and wet lands. It’s hilarious how they can take wetlands but no one else can. All the trees they are cutting down and making it a co Crete jungle will be good for global warming.

Maybe the homeowners can find a bunch of drums of toxic waste they can spread around right before the property is seized.

Let them take possession of a giant superfund site if they're going to go that route.

Either that or come back after they build the plant with your modified Komatsu.

Just be careful, you can push most people around most of the time, but some people have a limit where they just say "fuck you" and the line between justice and revenge starts getting blurry.

Can you imagine the threats and complaints the property owners are getting?
I wonder if and by how much their Property Taxes will suddenly rise?
On the other side I get it how a lot of money is being put in with expectations of returns, State wants to add another on/off Ramp from I-81, etc.

I believe that Property owners have and hold sacred Rights, that ED should require a Jury Trial, and be used as a last resort with overwhelming evidence. Remember, it's some government "official" or bureaucrat deciding to take Land under the Flag of the People, and you can bloody well bet that LIFER is benefiting from doing the dirty work...People do all sorts of bullshit in the name of God and Government.

This plant is a pipe dream. The minute it was thought of the Union was involved from building to operations. You can't compete with people making $3 a day somewhere else with that bureaucracy. We NEED to make inside the US again but you CAN'T compete while pushing up costs for the same service just because.

There is a report the property can't be sold anyway because it is a trust. But I expect (Since it is a Shumer/ Biden milestone) that'll be waived and the landowner will lose. As already stated, when the plant moves to Mexico in three years the property will already be zoned industrial and will make a good solar farm site......

Most of my family who lives right in Utica/New Hartford area regarding the Wolfspeed, Danfoss, AMD, and of course Winn Hospital.

It has destroyed the area, but yet the politicians promised all these jobs, and from what they've heard, it was a wash on how many new jobs, versus vacated jobs.

Don't forget the folks that got booted out... from farms, land owners, home owners wildlife, to businesses. It was better that they were there contributing versus getting a handout from the state and local governments.

I hear a lot about what goes on in the Utica/Rome/New Hartford area and at times I just wanna puke. Lots of tax dollars going to waste.

Remember: Nothing is "free" when a mismanaged government gets involved.

Another reason I don't buy things like heat pumps and other shit that has those "rebates". I would just be contributing to the problem. I don't want the money from the government. They stole it, they can fucking keep it at this point.

Government ones to a of land, parks, roads, green space, heck they even own the Tesla plant in Buffalo by from what I heard. We built it with tax payer money.

It is a land trust but remember much of this area has some wetlands as well. You and I can’t disturb a wetland but the government can. Seems like a land trust can be sold but who knows. We all know the government will do as they please so what do laws and rules matter anyway.

ED is in the Constitution,and there was a SCOTUS decision that allowed the Govt to take land for private purposes..............all legal.

Maps will be filed and the property will be taken..............final value/price to be determined.......
A 90 day notice to quit will be granted.

We sent American citizens to internment camps for nothing more than who their ancestors were. Also fully supported by the courts.

Roosevelt confiscated all the privately owned gold in the country, just so he could inflate the currency.

"Legal" is an absolutely terrible metric for what is right in this country, or any other.

Where will the water and electricity come from? Where will the effluent go?
Just one of the four sections alone will take Nine mile unit 1 electrical out put.
Unit 1 is about 600Mw.
Unit 2 is about 1200Mw.
Fitz is about 800Mw.
Micron per phase needs about ? This keeps changing, iirc each would use ~400Mw.
Add in a new 54" water line and filtration/storage facility.
Add in effluent discharge/clean up, heavy metals.
Taxes are going up to pay for the infrastructure or this is a fake during an election year.

How do you think roads get widened and built?.

As an engineer I once had to visit a farm that was split in two near Little Falls by the T-way construction in 1953.............I had to tell the Land owner, still living on the smaller residual portion that it was all over.........new T-way interchange @ Little Falls demanded it be taken by ED.....

He was going to shoot me but before I could move, an NYSP trooper drove up , sent by my boss to potentially cool down a hot situation......no one was shot, we demolished his home and barns...... took it all. He was paid well..................this is 1974.

The entire Federal Interstate System of Highways thru the country and in the cities were acquired/built by ED........ same with all Military bases and most airports.

It is right if it is for the public good. We do not live in a Libertarian Republic, like during the Articles of Confederation..far from it..by vote of the people in 1790............DC itself was built using ED.
