Glad I’m doing a larger garden. I think I may have to step up my hydroponics timeline. All this will force people to be more industrious and depend on the government less if you want to put some work and smarts in.

If you want to get better about what to grow, you should track your nutrition because you'll get insight into what the most valuable foods are.

You know what is surprisingly priceless in the human diet yet only few foods contain that aren't meat? Selenium, which regulates hormone function via your thyroid. You know what non-meat food contains it along with other healthy fats? Sunflower seeds. Brazil Nuts do as well, but I highly doubt we have the soil around here to grow them.

They also contain a good chunk of daily Vitamin E.

Just saying, I got a lot of insight into what is valuable diet wise via tracking my food.

I'd also suggest stocking up on fortified cereal. It lasts a while, and has a good absorption rate -- often for a bunch of vitamins and minerals. $2.50 for 11+ days of actual high quality vitamins is not bad -- considering absorption of regular vitamins is sub-par.

Here, the USDA does not have enough agents to police family gardens, or to shut them down, or the local corn and veggie stands. They may attack the Amish gardens, but what the hell, they do not have the legal authority to starve you.

They have zero authority to tell me I can’t have a home garden. Besides they wouldn’t shutdown home gardens by coming to your house they would simply say no seed sales and not allow plants to be sold to the public.
