Erie Co. Clerk: 69 percent of pistol permit holders are not in compliance of law

Part of me wonders if this is the new gun control. I wouldn’t put it past govt to go after anyone who defies their gun laws. But it seems many of the recent gun laws in this country are being ignored. Safe act-limited registration of banned guns, people not certifying permits, the 7 round rule being ditched. New Jersey-nobody turned in mags. Colorado has a mag ban and apparently many places were still selling them anyways. And I know I’ve seen other examples.

I just wonder if the future of gun control is the antis passing legislation to please the anti gun crowd but it being largely ignored. The antis can still say they passed tougher laws even though nothing comes of it. Innovation seems to keep circumventing some of the guns laws. And it’s gets harder everyday to put the gun genie back in the bottle. While they would never admit it, there has to be some antis that deep down think that getting guns out of citizens hands will never happen. Even if just going by nothing other than the current number of firearms and ammo in civilian hands.

But...I don’t underestimate that the govt would come after a gun owner given the opportunity.

Just thoughts I’ve had on the subject. And still fuck any gun laws. They don’t work.

How is Kearns getting this compliance rate? It by no means jibes with the state police compliance rate. I feel Kearns is using overall number of permit holder by who recertified. Not everyone issued a pp needed to.

He made it a point to get erie county's pistol permit wait times in order by opening two satellite offices (one at the expense of a normal DMV business day). I'ts still fubar, but I'm sure it's helped. It sure makes adding guns alot easier not having to go downtown. As well, he said hell no to allowing illegals to get drivers licences.

^ He should. He voted against just about everything monkeyface proposed including the safe act and either the excelsior or dream acts or both when he was an assemblyman. I forget. Like an idiot I recertified a year early.
I got my permit on Dec 12, 2014.
So, showing them who is the boss, I recertified online on Dec 12, 2018.
Yep, I cannot count to 5.

Then on Jan 4, 2019 I recieved a letter from the NYSP saying that according to their records, I still need to recertify.
So, to be "safe" I now need to call them tomorrow to make sure they get it straight. I jumped through their hoops but am still being screwed with.
This is in no way infringing on my right to own firearms.

That means only 31 percent of pistol permit holders are following the law. To put that number in perspective, New York State Police data suggests Erie County has the second highest compliance rate in the state.

The first-ever, five-year pistol permit re-certification deadline was January 31 of 2017.

The consequences of failing to do so, according to a provision of the Safe Act, is that your pistol permit would be revoked and you could face a felony charge, but a year later – it hasn't been enforced.

"At any point in time, the Governor has the power to ask the State Police to enforce this law," Kearns said."






Well, good on NYers if 39% compliance in Erie county is the 2nd highest rate in the state.

But Kearns is right, FUAC can go after those who are "not in compliance" whenever he so chooses to do so and that sucks. Its such an abuse.
