Erie County DA race

So I ran across an article in the Buffalo News about the two candidates for Erie County District Attorney.

Joseph Treanor says he supports the Second Ammendment and dislikes the SAFE Act. He doesn't go as far as Sheriff Tim Howard who has said that he will not enforce the SAFE Act. But Treanor indicates he would tread cautiously when prosecuting someone charged with violating its terms.

"If I were to win " Treanor said, "I would have a sworn duty to uphold the law." But he added "I am not a fan of turning otherwise law-abiding citizens into felons because they happened to make a mistake with respect to the rather onerous provisions of the SAFE Act."

The article said SCOPE could potentially give Treanor an A rating.

His opponent, (D) John Flynn did not reveal his opinions about the SAFE Act and instead released this statement: DA's do not pass laws, they cannot choose which laws to prosecute and which to ignore. If elected DA and law enforcement brings a SAFE Act violation, he will enforce the law as currently enacted. He said his personal beliefs do not impact his adherence to the law.

Kinda reminds me of when Howard ran against Bert for Sheriff last time.

DAs may not pass laws, but they do take some discretion when prosecuting them, just like when LEO issue tickets. Sounds like a cop out to me.

Flynn is a bought and paid for Democrat party hack, just like his dumber than dumb predecessor Sedita.

Sadly, in Erie County, he is very likely to win just by having a (D) next to his name on the ballot.

Correction: actually, here in Erie County (including Buffalo), you could probably get elected even if you were a child molester who tortured household pets for kicks, as long as you have a pretty face, AND you paid the Democrat Party for their endorsement. Yes, it is that bad here.

The DA is ONE) An officer of the court. Two the chief Law Enforcement officer of the county.
Erie County DA feels they have the duty to prosecute any arrest good bad illegal or legal and see if it sticks not even thinking about how they screw up lives on an illegal arrest. If the cops arrested you you are going to be prosecuted.
This happened a time or two before. Go to Netflix and order up the Nuremberg Trials. There is nothing honorable about putting innocent people in jail because of the "law".
