Second, it is a real shame that these Countries want to help and assist a people that hate everything in which the Country stands for!

I don't like it either but it's important that people understand what's going on.

EUROPE IS TOAST. They are already at critical mass and past the point of no return. The pace of their demise will just quicken as time goes by.

Putin is ruthless when dealing with Islamic insurgency and terrorists, not Muslims who are loyal to Russia. Muslim population of Russia stands at about 10%. They are not immigrants or children of immigrants like most of the Muslims here. Most of them live on their ancestral lands. Many are very loyal and they are actually doing most of the fighting against Wahhabi Insurgency, which is currently going on in the region of Dagestan.
Our media accused Putin of killing several journalists in Russia, two dissidents abroad and one opposition leader. Those are unsubstantiated allegations as was pointed out by Trump. Other then that nothing is even alleged, much less established.
Any successful politician needs detractors. With 85% approval rating, why would he need to kill people who were actually helping him to stay popular.
It's likely that FSB killed one former FSB agent who became a traitor during the Chechen war and escaped to England, but other accusations are baseless.
There are plenty of people who openly criticize Putin, journalists and politicians. He actually needs these people to stay popular.
It's easier to win hearts and minds when you debate your opposition and make a stronger argument. Putin is great at that.

I understand that shotgun sales among women skyrocketed in Austria last year when the headlines detailing rapes commited by migrants started coming in. I guess Austria is one of the few EU countries that still allows some form of personal firearms.

Baltic states were a part of the Soviet Union when we made the agreement. They were also a part of pre-communist Russia. Believe it or not, Russians are glad to see them go, they just don't want NATO saber rattling on their door step. I am hoping there won't be another world war. I think it far more likely there will be a number of civil wars. I think a civil war in Europe is quite possible, but only if the native populations actually wake up. Russia is facing a similar problem - the birthrate of the native Russian population is falling, while the other populations (especially muslim) are not. China has a problematic male/female ratio now and it will only get worse. It is likely that millions of chinese men will never have an opportunity to marry because there simply aren't enough women. As Mark Steyn said, millions of twentysomething guys that can't get any action is not a recipe for social stability. The Chinese govt would prefer to engage them externally as opposed to internal rebellion but things may spiral out of their control. As for the good ol' USA - I think the recent election showed just how divided we are. The results by county were astonishing. The Slavs only had it slightly better than the Jews because, although we, too, were deplorables, Hitler needed a slave labor work force during and (in his mind, for after) the war and intended to keep us around for that purpose.

The Russians were BRUTAL to the Czechs when they were "liberating" us from the Germans. They raped, plundered, and murdered their way across the country. Further to that point: There WERE such statues during the Regime that were erected BY THE RUSSIANS and the Communists (who were, in effect, agents of the Russian regime.) Actually it was Communist tradition for brides to lay their bouquets at the base of these little self-serving, narcissistic, statues. My mom got into a bit of hot water on her wedding day because she told them, in no uncertain terms, to "Fuck. Off." Those statues were one of the first things to go when the regime finally fell. My entire extended family remains in the CR. We visit and soeak with them often. There is (at least among the generations who lived through Communism and remember it) very little love for the Russians.

Lookit, we can banter back and forth all the live long day about what is conspiracy and what Putin actually did. and didn't do. Really, given the secrecy of the Kremlin, we'll never know one way or the other. There are things about him that are admirable...his sense of nationalism, specifically- which is a breath of fresh air after 8 years of an anti-American president, but that's where it stops. I will temper that by reminding folks that Hitler and Mussolini were also nationalists. i believe Bush's assessment of him was (is) absolutely naive. The man's a dictator, and he's dangerous and all i can say is praise the Lord that Obama's leaving office, because he is in no way equipped to deal with him.

I think EVERYONE is missing a very important point here. The world's economy is at stake. If europe falls due to immigrant violence, work stops. People will not be going to work, the infrastructure will decline at an alarming rate. Power and water quality will decline.
This will affect the world's economy as there will be no one around to buy goods or services.

YES all religions have a violent past. Christians and Muslim's and Jews have been going at it for thousands of years. But the one thing that has kept all religion in check, was war. Every time the Muslims decided to invade Europe, Christians went to war to FORCE Muslims out. Likewise, when Christians invaded the Middle East, Muslims fought and repelled the invasion.

However, in today's politically correct "inclusive" One World Order, Christians want to take the moral high ground. The rich elite will live in their gated communities while the poor and middle class will be left to fight for survival one their own.

The future looks very bleak indeed. our Children and grandchildren will be on the defensive. America's hope will lie in Latino's. Latio's are breeding at a sustainable rate and they tend to be very Christian.

In 20 years, The world will be a much scarier place, it will become more violent. World war is not that far away.

You have your facts wrong. If it wasn’t for CHURCHILL and the AMERICANS all of Europe would be speaking German. Remember that Stalin was aligned with Hitler until Hitler invaded Russia in 1941 (?). The Russians only beat back Hitler because the idiot decided to invade during the winter (think he would have taken a nod from Napolean on that one.) After that, Stalin aligned himself with the Allies and, with Allied supplies and support, pushed back the Germans in the final months of the war.

As for the monument at Slavin- you’re mixing apples and oranges. First of all, Slavin is in Slovakia, not in the Czech Republic. I said that the Czechs hate Russians. Don’t have much experience with the Slovakian mentality. Secondly the monument at Slavin is a memorial to the Russians that fell liberating the country in WWII. I did not dispute that point- it’s a fact of history. BUT that has nothing to do with a Czech political alignment with COMMUNIST Russia, or, eventually, Putin (which is where, after all, this whole discussion originated.) You will find similar monuments to fallen American soldiers in Pilsen and all across Europe. You will not find any statues to Stalin or Lenin or Communism in the Czech Republic. I should have been more specific on that point – that was my fault. I misspoke.

If I understand you correctly, you are saying that Putin is in his right to invade Ukraine and generally cause mayhem and anxiety throughout the Baltic States and Central Europe because of a pact between Gorbachev and Reagan? Was this struck during the Reykjavik Summit? I’m not an expert on International Relations, so I’m not familiar with any such pact. What was it called?

I understand that there were certain non-proliferation pacts set up, but a pact prohibiting the states under the former influence of the USSR to be excluded from NATO? As the USSR dissolved within the next few years, I question whether those terms would even be binding. Furthermore, Czechoslovakia (later the Czech and Slovak Republics), Hungary and Poland were SOVEREIGN nations. They were never part of the USSR, only under their influence. The Czechs, in any case, were a constitutional republic formed after WWI and remained so until today. If you look at maps of pre-1917 Russia, the Baltic states were also independent countries, with their own languages, and cultures and customs. None of us were Russian. Except for maybe Ukraine? I really don’t know enough about Ukrainian history though to comment. How can a pact between two countries prohibit independent, sovereign, nations from joining a mutual defense organization like NATO unless those countries signed onto it? And even if they did, the USSR fell to pieces in 1991. No country, no lasting treaty with said country. No?

And now, finally, back to our dear Russian dictator who started this interesting conversation of ours. Putin was NOT some little KGB peon. He was a lieutenant colonel in the KGB operation in East Germany- monitored embassy officials and foreigners. He was no runt. What was the KGB doing in Eastern Germany but enforcing Russian policies? How do you reckon they went about that?

Putin has no legal or historic ground to do what he’s doing.

Putin is a great leader for people who want what he wants. But what he wants is NOT a free republic. He wants consolidated, centralized power. He may be a great ally when it comes to getting rid of ISIS, because they threaten Russia, too. To quote Reagan ( and @prambo ): Trust but verify.
