it came out extremely hard had to use a punch. I have contacted brownells for a return.how's the retaining pin
How the heck did that happen?
36How many cycles?
Maybe a heat treating problem? Metal might be softer than spec.
You just can't win on the Internet today can you?it came out extremely hard had to use a punch. I have contacted brownells for a return.
Ehh the gun functioned flawlessly. Shooting it you never would have know it had a problem. It has a lifetime waranty from Brownells so I just stuffed a spare BCG in the gun and am awaiting an RMA from Brownells it pays to have spare parts. You just can't win on the Internet today can you?
The only thing that hits it is the hammer. My bet is it is a badly heat treated part.Weird. Good thing they are cheap and easy to replace huh? Makes me wonder if something else in the gun is out of whack though.
What I was wondering was if the hammer hit the pin while out of battery.......... but I can't imagine there is enough power in the hammer spring to do that bad heat treat or not. The rear of the firing pin does not contact the hammer when the BCG comes back correct? The only thing that hits it is the hammer. My bet is it is a badly heat treated part.
Nope it doesn't.What I was wondering was ifbthe hammer hit then pin out of battery.......... but I can't imagine the is enough power innthe hammer spring to do that bad heat treat or not. The rear of the firing pin does not contact the hammer when the BCG comes back correct?
Thats just plain weird if you ask me.Nope
Yeah I have been shooting ARs for 35 years and have never seen this before.Thats just plain weird if you ask me.
I have a little compartmentalized pouch strapped to my range bag, in it I have a spare bolt, firing pin, gas rings and batteries. Plus other small misc stuff. I'm thinking of getting a whole, complete extra BCG for ultra rapid range fixes.A reminder that 2 is 1 and 1 is none. Backup rifle or spare parts any time for a match or shoot.
Yep learn it, live it, love it. Murphy is always around to make you pay for being ill prepared.A reminder that 2 is 1 and 1 is none. Backup rifle or spare parts any time for a match or shoot.
It was a brownells brand part so who knows.Chinese part?
Chinese part?
Brand new out of the package 36 rounds on the BCG assembly. Is it the right part?
Did you change any other parts involved in the system?
Any recalls or other instances noted?
Then expect to see more bent pins?My money is on bad heat treat as well. I just cant see a pin like that bending if it was hardened properly. If it was I would think it would be more likely to crack then bend.
Or Brownells supplier is building out of substandard metal and not heat treating.
