I just came across this short video. I do not know when or where it's from.

I usually really enjoy Inman's voice-overs. I had a hard time with this one.

Personally, my training would not have dictated a mag dump in this case. But, as always...I was not there.

The way I understand it is that you can shoot until the threat stops, and continuing past that point puts you in the wrong.
If the attacker is coming towards or shooting at you, you can continue (ostensibly) putting rounds into him until he stops doesn't matter if its one or all 11 (can't have more than a 10 round magazine, yet the Cops can have as many as they like) once the threat is no longer advancing or shooting, it's over unless they start again....either way, you're going to be arrested until things can be reviewed and sorted out, even then the shooting will be presented to a Grand Jury for examination.

Ok, as far as the "mag dump" argument goes...Let's say you are in NY and have a 10 rd max... you've dropped 8 shots in this perp to neutralize the threat. So you think. You sit there a second and contemplate WTF just happened. Then 2 accomplices burst in. Bang, bang, click... click... Now time to reload under duress. Instead..... you mag dump Perp 1 and immediately reload with a fresh mag. Now you're ready for threat 1.2 and threat 2.0.

No need to know "what you got left for rounds", you know its not a full mag, theres a break in the action just dump it and put in a fresh one
