So we should require them to insure firearms business the same as forcing a private business from baking a cake for a gay wedding? Sorry not quite following. State Farm is pretty good for homeowners and auto policies. I tried to get policy from them for carpentry. Guess what, they don't do that either. Not there business. So be it.
I've been shopping around recently, and Hiscox insurance is pretty good for liability insurance, for general and errors and omissions. I was looking at a few different places, and their rates seemed reasonable / they didn't perpetually harass me after the quote.
Came to around 1100-1200 for both general + errors and omissions. Might go up a little since I plan to expand that to around 2.5m in coverage, if possible, up from the 1mill for that quote. But only if each incident covers more than 1mill.
Since you're doing carpentry you'd probably be closer to 1500-2000 I think for 1mill in coverage I'd assume, since your general liability is higher than that of someone who works at home.
Also their customer service seemed a little nicer than the other places I had called, and I found it faster to get a person -- always a plus.
Yeah I'm right in same ball park I think Liability is $1M /$3M $1200 / year. Is Hiscox an insurance company or agent? Don't know why but I thought they were an agency for some reason. Anyway my only point is if an insurance company doesn't insure firearms manufacturers as part of their underwriting guidelines you really can't fault them for that. It's the same for everyone. There are plenty of other business that they don't insure as well.
The issue as I'm interpreting it is that State Farm is currently insuring the FFL and is terminating the coverage effective June 26th. It appears their coverage is changing. Due to liberal/political pressure? Could be. Or not. Just very coincidental.
State Farm is unable to provide coverage YOU REQUESTED IN YOUR APPLICATION because
Sounds to me like an agent bound a new policy and it was subsequently rejected by underwriting but who knows...
Definitely sounds like conflicting statements. Terminating coverage sounds like it's in force. 'Requested in your application' sounds like a new policy app rejected by the underwriter.
Like you said, 'who knows'?
Oh forgot to mention and then taken to extreme by Internet posse to twist and turn to suit an agenda, lol. Yeah, call me jaded.

They do not insure a sporting goods business that have more than 10% gun sales. Too bad as SF is a good company for auto and home insurance. They pay when you need them.
They are good to the customer and shop owners for auto insurance. (I worked in an auto body shop for 20+ years. )

"We are assholes....bum bum bum bum bum bum bum."
I do not have Statefarm, either way, I do not care who or what they insure. After reading this thread, I decided to take 30 seconds and do a quick search...
They do insure small businesses, but it looks like no manufacturing is included.

That is what I said. State Farm does not insure manufacturing.
Manufacturing is kind of an important sector not sure why a company would choose to not insure it. Too much risk for injury?
