FA Pile Driver, Big Dog Steel + Inline Fabs Ultramount

Finally found a company who makes a mount for the Frankford Arsenal Pile Driver! Since I have all my large reloading tools using the Inline Fabrications Ultramount system, I wanted to do the same for this.

It wasn't that difficult. The mounting points for the BGS mount was 4 points in a rectangle. With an Inline Fabs blank plate, I used a countersink drill bit to recess bolts for a flush fit to the mounting plate. Bolted up the BGS mount to the plate, and viola.

Used a 3/4 countersink drill bit to accommodate the 1/2 recessed bolts.

On a Tangent: I though about buying one of Dillon Precision's stands for a RL550, but decided the height of the Bench stacked with the stand would be too much...ALL of my Presses are mounted to 5/8" Plates that are drilled & tapped for 5/16" bolts (3/8" for the .50) then Lag Screwed or Carriage Head bolts to the bench...lot of torque sizing .50's and a fair amount as well for the Lapua and RUM cases.

That's just a bullet puller. It works much better and easier than the hammer style pullers or the Hornady die bullet puller.

I'll have to look into it...
I have a RCBS Collet Puller and a dozen collets that works pretty well, and a Hammer for cast bullets that I can't get a grip on.
It's not so much issues pulling my own, but other peoples reloads, Old Ammunition, and defective stuff has a habit of finding its way to me for dismantling and old Lead bullets like .45 Long Colt can be a bitch, usually requiring the kenetic Hammer, which works, but is a slow process.

It sat in my closet for the longest time because I didn't have a good spot to mount it. The stand from Big Dog Steel worked great and with the modifying I did to the blank plate from Inline Fabs made it possible to use with the Ultramount.

I have a small work bench so I didn't want it to be a permanent fixture in my bench.

I had it mounted to the wall in my apartment, the force of it would shake the section of wall and I would hear rattling behind it. That was enough for me to take it down.

The next spot was on the leg of my workbench which made it VERY annoying to use and rattled everything on my bench.

With the mount, it resolved the location and usability issue. The impact force is still strong but I think being flush down on the bench helps distribute it more evenly.

the description says it comes with the standard carrier...the option to buy another carrier might be a mistake (magnum carrier listed as "standard"?) Only "magnum" rounds I've never been able to pull were the Lazzeroni cartridges.

I've pulled every caliber I reload, the largest being 45-70, 308, and 6.5 CM. I haven't had the need to pull 338 LM yet.

Even the most stubborn round it's taken apart in two pull/release of this beast.

Only problem I see is the noise, I'm probably going to mount it on a board and then just clamp that in my big vice in the garage. I do like that bench mount Roof top has, I could weld one up in no time, but the wife jumps every time I release the spring.
I did do away with that stupid little catch can and replaced it with a hose going to a container on the floor.

Yep! I put a tube into a cat-litter Bucket (they're marvelous for reloaders)
I have a Wall covered in Birch Plywood that I mounted it to (DO use ALL the screw holes) and it's not too bad vibration wise, but is noisy...only person it bothers is me standing beside it.
All in all I prefer Collet Pulling, but for cast bullets or stubby ones, that pile driver don't play!

I'm a fan of the RCBS bullet puller. You can put it on a single or progressive. I just put it on my loadmaster and go to town. I like that it's very controlled and leaves all the powder in the case. You can then decide where to go from there. Here's the one I'm talking about. You don't have to buy the kit and can just buy the collets as you go.

The Hornady cam lock is the equivalent. These look cool too but you definitely need a single stage.

Got my magnum cartridge carrier in the mail today.

Worked like a charm disassembling the (60) loose unknown 50AE reloads I bought at a garage sale in PA.

Now I can used the primed brass for 50AE reloads and the Hornady 50 cal FTX bullets to reload for my friends 50 Beowulf. I'll have to find some FMJ 50 cal bullets to reload for the DEagle.

I have no use for the 50 cal FTX bullets since you can't shoot them out of the DEagle. I may as well load them for my friend to waste.
