Sorry if I forgot to mention Nemtsov by name- you remember him, right? The other potential challenger to Putin, who was assassinated on a bridge by "foreigners", one of whom was in his apartment at the time of the shooting?
This thread is discouraging. I have a lot of respect for you guys generally but this Russian derangement really makes no sense. We talk a lot on this site about rights and liberty. Mostly the 2nd of course, but the others as well. Last I checked I don't need a government permit to protest, journalists don't get jailed or assasinated in the streets, lawyers don't get thrown out of windows, and opposition candidates aren't barred from running, or killed in the streets.
If every conspiracy theory about our government was reported as real events, how would we look? We are doing this to Russia. Nemtsov was shot by a Chechen radical. Five Chechens were tried and convicted in Russian court. It was an open trial, the evidence and testimonies were never challenged by the western media. Navalny was convicted of a crime, Russian laws prevent him from running. Neither one had any chance of beating Putin in the elections. I am not saying that Russia's internal politics is not without shenanigans, but neither is ours. The reality is Putin is very popular in Russia. He won because people like him, not because they are scared to vote against him or because the results were rigged. You are stuck on old stereotypes. Times change.

Foreign policy, and world politics is admittedy a very weak point for me. Im open to learning and am not afraid of being better informed and changing my opinion.
From what i have read/learned i actually admire Putin for his patriotism and his balls, but i despise tyranical leaders and anything related to communism, socialism, etc...
I firmly believe the USA is the greatest country with the best system of governance in existence today or ever. However, that doesnt mean i dont think we might pull some dirty moves on the world stage to strengthen our position. And there are alot of questionable things that go on. BUT, you know damn well everyone else is playing the same game and we are playing to win.

My issue is that attacking civilians for no possible gain when the US announces that it's leaving. Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. None. They invited the US back in right after they announced they were pulling out. Then we attack them before an investigation is ever launched.
Further more we launched an attack on enemy's of Isis and not Isis. Why are we not using those 105 missles to attack them?

Each nation chooses its own system of government. What works for us will not work for others. It didn't work at all in the Middle East and it didn't work well in Russia during 1990's. It's normal for us to believe we are the greatest country in the world. An average Russian or Swed or Israeli has the same beliefs about his country, but they don't send troops or launch missiles half way around the world to prove it. We declare our supremacy over others and using that to justify naked aggression. Putin can explain his foreign policy, we can't. At least not openly. Russia pushes for International debate, we are dumbing down our populace with fairy-tales about evil dictators who kill their own people.

I am not Russian and I was referring to citizens of Russian Federation who voted in Russian elections, not myself or anyone here.
We are playing the same geopolitical game we have been playing for 40 years. Arming and organizing militant Islamists. 9/11 was just a collateral damage, it didn't change our foreign policy. ....... and agencies who should have been blamed for 9/11 received more power with the passage of Patriot act.

Now some of you guys may remember that nerve agents have no smell and are extremely deadly if inhaled or even handled. Shit like this is why I question everything the government tells me. There is no credibility with CNN or the FBI .

I agree with you. But if they are going to use this as a pretext for another war lasting decades For reasons that are unclear at best , we need to pay attention to whats happening. We certainly didn't spend over 100 million dollars in cruise missiles because of human rights violations . They can sell that bullshit to the lib's , who seem to be all for saving the Syrians from tyranny with somebody else's lives.

While the popular nerve agents are odorless, not all are odorless. I do agree with you, whatever this reporter is sniffing is not a nerve agent and that's a really poor way to detect it.
