If the CIA would stick to it's lane and stay out of domestic operations (as it's legally required to do) I would say it was less of a threat than the FBI.

The real threat of all of government though right down to local LE is it's penchant to operate in secret.

There are very few secrets that *need* to be kept. The vast majority of the ones that are kept are to protect the agencies from public scrutiny or for their convenience.

They all get this mindset that their job is so crucial that anything that prevents them from doing it needs to be eliminated or ignored. That is simply not the case. Liberty and accountability are more important than whatever case they happen to be working.

There are great people doing great work in LE and allnagencies. The problem are all the political appontees who want to influence agencies who are there to serve the people to serve specific political agendas and even militarize them against the people.
When in doubt, All an agent has to do is to honor the oath they took.
All we need is a law to provide unconditional inmunity to those who follow the constitution so they do not find themselves in that conflict.
A reminder should be sufficient but politicians will not stop using fear tactics to get their sinister agendas moving.

The CIA is much more troubling.
