I doubt just the credit score would be a sole failure factor after six hour intrusive questionnaire, surely just some fake news reporter taking something out of contextOk, sounds bad, and probably is, but after reading the article it says you can fail the security clearance for having a bad credit score. I suppose this could open you up to blackmail or something like that but a poor credit score doesn't necessarily mean you're an assassin in waiting.
I have seen clearances revoked because of a past bankruptcy. Credit reports show up quite a bit in clearance denial cases.I doubt just the credit score would be a sole failure factor after six hour intrusive questionnaire, surely just some fake news reporter taking something out of context

I know guys that lost their access and some lost clearances for bad checks. If you lose access to classified you basically lose your job.I have seen clearances revoked because of a past bankruptcy. Credit reports show up quite a bit in clearance denial cases.

Racist!
Understandable. As bank loan do all that chit too, but the sentence in the article did say "a questionnaire used to determine one’s level of security clearance. The test covers a range of topics but takes into consideration someone’s credit score, substance use, and various other personal subjects."
That's just mentioning the range of questions, really just not a singled out for credit score type of explanation. If they had someone with that clearance and did their job day in and day out, they not gonna can that person for a 513 credit karma score and then try to retrust a new person into that position..if they got canned it was for other reasons unbeknownst to us and used the credit score as the scapegoat.
Really it comes down to the fact that for positions like that they dont need to compromise. They can get someone just as good who doesn't have a bad credit core. Its not so much the credit score as what usually goes along with a bad credit score. Lots of people with a bad credit score do so because they are strapped for cash, missing payments, and have acquired lots of debt that can be a burden. These things add up to someone that is more susceptible to blackmail, recruitment, encouragement to divulge classified info in order to alleviate some of the burden.
