Federal Auto Match?

Has anyone had any issues with Auto Match? I lent 2 of my 10/22's this past weekend at our Appleseed Shoot ( Both have never been fussy about ammo) The shooters were first using Rem. Golden Bullets ( Not my favorite at all) with no issues, then they ran out and opened a box of AM! Both rifles started to stove-pipe, FTE and dudes! I had some Mini Mags for them to finish the day, Not a hick-up after that!

Auto Match was pretty good ammo in the past!​

Had just the opposite results.. I have an older 10-22 that will shoot 10 shots of Fed AM into a dime sized hole at 50 yds. Also with %100 feed/function. Haven't found any other ammo yet that can do that... Maybe the batch?

My 10/22 and my MkII both cycle Automatch with no problems, but I'm working my way through some ammo from a couple years ago, new batch might be slightly different.

Automatch can be a real mixed bag. I know they put the word “match” in the title. I wouldn’t use it for a match. My 10/22 really loved Aguila super-extra. Maybe that’s a little spendy for an Appleseed match. 500 rounds will put a real dent in you pocketbook.

I have never shot any Aguila, My go to 22 ammo is CCI-SV or Mini Mags! May have to try some?

Are these the Auto Match with lead nose bullets? I had issues with FTF in my pistol. I stopped using them. Seems the lead bullet would catch on the feed ramp (I think). The Rem golden bullets would cycle fine for me because of the copper plated bullet.

I have several boxes of older Automatch and just recently opened one to try. So far, so good from a function standpoint. Haven't really tested it for accuracy though.

When the 22 ammo finally came back it was Auto Match that the big box store had pallets of! I guess QT was not up to par?

I bought a 10/22 that turned out to be real finicky out of the box. With the fed auto match or win m-22's I couldn't get through a magazine without a hiccup. Surprisingly golden bullets were the best out of the cheapo stuff. After cleaning up the inside of the receiver, and a volquartsen extractor, the thing will shoot anything without a hiccup.

Aguila can be had for really cheap right now. I saw something like $211 shipped for a 5k brick of super extra last time I looked. Stuff shoots really good.

I like AM. Works very well in my S&W victory. 2 did rounds in 500 or so. Feels consistent. Like Golden Bullets too. CCI Mini Mags. for the good stuff. Hate Thunderbolts though.

I had issues in my 10/22 with Auto Match, and it will feed Rem Subsonic with no issues. Sold the other 4 bulk boxes I had. Plain lead bullet with what seemed very little if any lube. At least 1 round in every 10 round mag would jam. Back in the day, Remington's .22 rimfire Golden bullets were top of the line, first High Velocity .22 Long Rifle out there.

auto match doesn't really work with new guns or New springs!
my newest 10/22 wouldn't run AM when i first got it. after 1000 rounds of Minimags, now it really likes it.

I did an appleseed in CT this summer and guy had a new 10/22 and was trying to use AM, stovepipes galore!
the gun ran my minimags without a hitch.

also my 22/45 choked on AM when i did Wolff spring kit update. after a bunch of shooting with high velocity ammo, now it likes them again.

Automatch has been ok for me and golden bullets are hit or miss. Aguila standard velocity didnt work well for me but only tried 1 50 round box, glad I didnt buy a brick. The blazer stuff has been around cheep and works very well.

i have put around 1,500-1,800 rounds of automatch through my 22lr ar that i assembled using a cmmg barrel and bolt. seems to shoot accurate, clean, no malfunctions with it yet. also runs remington thunderbolts with no problems either, (except for it being dirty), i have also run cci standard velocity with no issues.
