And with this monitoring they'll know immediately if you disconnect it.

The manufacturers will probably have to make the whole vehicle disable if the camera isn't working.

Driver facing cameras are getting to be a big thing for some trucking companies. When I left Crete a few years ago they had what we called "bad boy trucks" the had forward and driver facing cams, Get a couple tickets or accidents and you got a "bad boy truck".
At Penske truck leasing we have many clients that have multiple cams in the trucks, on the windshield, dash, mirrors. It's the way of the future.

Yep. I worked for a Penske logistics account that had two driver facing cameras. FedEx ground contractors have them and monitor them live. The company I’m working for now uses Netradyne brand cameras and they’re fucking obnoxious, forever calling out violations that are nonexistent (my favorite is reading the speed limit signs on exit ramps or frontage roads while I’m on the interstate at double the speed of said ramp).

Meanwhile in nearby Canada, driver facing cameras are illegal country wide, violating wiretapping and privacy laws.

If you have a Tesla in full self driving mode it actually watches the driver to make sure they are paying attention to the road and it will disable it if you aren't.

That's supposed to go away once the feature is out of beta testing, but right now it actually uses AI to tell where you are looking and make sure that is out the front window most of the time.

I couldn't agree more! BUT... I fear for the future my adult kids and my grandkids will have to deal with. I have warned them over the years to be aware of the direction the country is heading. I think my kids see the writing on the wall but their kids will have a harder time understanding what our republic was meant to be.
