WHAAAT? I once set up a huge store picnic in Florida featuring two of them that were shot by employees. The store picked up the drinks and everyone else brought a dish to pass.

NYS does have a point. Many states are being overrun by hogs because of hunting them one at a time.
Shooting one or two hogs from a huge sounder of 50 hogs, can break that group into 3 smaller sounders. This causes more dominant boars, which causes more breeding.
The best way is to trap the whole group and kill them all at once.

I wonder how well they eat. You would think if there was an issue like this around here that people would be eating a lot more pork. I know personally I would shoot at least one a quarter. I would also have a pig roast every summer and would take up smoking and sausage making. I already process our own deer so it would be a logical next step. I'm on the fence on if I would like to see them here or not. I would love to have a steady supply of pork but would hate the devastation they bring.
Devastation is horrible. I have seen total neighborhoods dug up, chewed up and spit out by hogs in Florida. Golf courses ruined etc. My boss's son used to offer a service that eradicated hogs. Our FFL was a class III, so we sold suppressors, and he stuck one on his AR. Nice, quiet, effective. We always had a good supply of pork at the store!

Yup. At one point they were a shoot on sight, any means, any number, any time. Now they don't want you to. The "logic" is that hunting them will cause them to disperse and increase their range.

That's exactly where I stand with it. It'd be nice to have another source of meat to hunt, but the devastation from them isn't worth it.

Screw the farmers who try to charge an arm and a leg for hog hunts. A lot of them see hogs as a way of making money, but complain that they're tearing up crops too. They want to make money off the hogs and make money off farming at the same time. If the hogs are that much of an issue, they should be welcoming hunters in to try and wipe out as many as possible.

Most people say to shoot something 100 pounds or less for the best meat.
