FFL's doing ATF 4473 wrong

Out of a couple of FFL's who have transferred lowers to me, I don't think a single one has recorded the model correctly.

They are putting "AR15" or such instead of the manufacturer-specific model name (which is clearly engraved on the lower), since these are not Colt lowers. I'm sure this is wrong.

I've also been told I have to say what caliber I'm building and they can't put in "multi," (as engraved on the receiver) which I'm also not sure about.

Should I care? That section is for the FFL to fill out, so I don't, and I would expect if anyone ever had to worry about it they should, not me.

Anyone else seen this, or are my FFL's especially stupid? Are FFL's transferring complete rifles as "AR15's" as well when they are not Colt?

My FFL does not write AR15. Sounds like you got some idiots for FFL.

Something is wrong as here's how it SHOULD be recorded. Say you are taking possession of an Anderson lower. For manufacturer it's obviously Anderson Manufacturing. Next we put in the model. AM15. Then we fill in the serial number XXXXXXXX and then the class which would be RECEIVER. After that it is the caliber which would be MULTI. Not sure why they are entering AR15 but technically, that would be the correct platform but I have yet to be told to enter AR15 when it's clearly NOT the model that is registered with the BATFE. I wouldn't stress it too much. Their mess up if they get an inspection.

I'm pretty sure my lowers were transferred as 'other's and multi for caliber as it's just a stripped lower reciever and has no caliber designation yet. Can build anything out of it. I dont remember if Anderson was listed as manufacturer though probably was.

Yes, they are especially stupid. I would not worry about it, but I would also correct them on the mistakes. Chances are, they have been recording things wrong for so long, they aren't going to believe you.

if you are going t build a pistol then you will need to know the caliber, but that's for the receipt for PP office not the atf records

for the record those ffl's really shouldn't be selling stripped lower. As what was already stated they will schooled on that at their annual inspection

Does Walmart even do transfers?

They are kind of fuddy. The LGS I went to right before I started building closed; they probably would have gotten it right.

At least one of them had Anderson stripped lowers in inventory, maybe I'll buy one and see if they screw that one up too.
