After months of shooting in ideal conditions at the Range. I decided to take my Savage Axis II XP 223 into the field for some test shooting.
I visited our favorite shooting spot near Napanoch (you know where). I built a small wooden frame and hung a 6 inch round plate from it. I christened it "coyote." I tested the target set-up at 100 yards. At that range it was pretty easy to hit. At least, it was if I waited until it stopped swinging. I also messed up some empty soda cans that somebody left laying about at 100 yards. Those cans won't be harassing any more livestock.
As soon as I find an appropriate site for shooting at longer ranges, I hope to test the "coyote" at 200 yards or longer.
