Finally going to pull the trigger on some binoculars

I have narrowed it down to the vortex diamondbacks or Nikon monarch 5’s. I looked at both in cabelas store and didn’t see a lick of difference. The nikons are $70 more so I’m leaning towards the vortex. Also they get great reviews and many people say the same thing on the web that they can’t tell The difference.
Since the vortex are cheaper I’m leaning towards the 12x50’s instead of 10x42’s with the nikons. I think the nikons have the ED glass and is probably slightly better. The vortex warranty is a draw for me.

Also there is a used pair of vortex intrepid HD for $300. They are a grand brand new. Are used ones worth looking at and any way to tell how old they are. Seems like this model came out in 2014 from what I can tell and are a cabelas exclusive product.

What do you all think. I have a $35.00 pair of useless binoculars now so anything I get will be great.

optics planet has a 10% off coupon as well right now. I’ll probably just buy them at Cabela since I’m going to California on Monday for work. I figured I wasn’t going because the gov was shutdown, but I’ll be in the mountains and paying an extra $30 for some good views is worth it. Plus the guy at cabelas spent 20-30 minutes talking binoculars with me.

have 3 bino's 1 Nikon 1 Leopold 1 stiener and it seems as though the quality and brightness is in the same order I thought the Nikon was great until I bought the Leopold then came the stiener and I wish I had another pair and I'm sure there are others out there that are better than the stieners

Try some Swarovski binoculars next.

Bought the vortex 10x42 today. I got them home and I’d say 100 yards out in a pine tree I can see the detail on the pine cones. I’m impressed honestly.

My binoculars never last more than 5 years so I've gone to Bushnells for the past 10. I always have a pair with me in the woods, a pair in the cab of the truck, a pair in my office at home, and a pair in the upstairs bedroom. The clarity is not as good as the Nikons, but it's good for the money. I try to keep Nikon 3x9 scopes on most of my rifles. For my 2 main hunting rifles I have back-up scopes zeroed and ready to go all the time. I gave a nice pair of Nikon binoculars to my son-in-law for bird watching. He doesn't hunt but we both like to look at birds.

Vortex has the vip warranty and they will replace them at any point for anything, Unless you break them on purpose. Nikon too has a forever warranty.

I’m out on California and glassing the doses of mountains and I can say I’m impressed. The guy I’m with hunts out west and has a pair of $2,000 binoculars and said these are nice binoculars. Maybe just making me feel good, but he said he plans to sell the expensive Swarovski pair he has since he doesn’t see the benefit of them. I can see everything clear near and far. I’m impressed.
