Have been procrastinating for a few years, buying new shiney things instead. Well I am finally going to finish the build. The slide has already been fitted to the frame. The barrel has fitted so the rest shouldn't be too tough.

Very much looking forward to seeing how this goes for you. How was it fitting the slide frame and barrel?

The slide and barrel fitting are not too difficult. I use polishing compound and oil to lap the slide to the frame. The barrel is a prefit so that part was easy. I have built 6 or 7, 1911s so far the last one was a full sized para P13-45 grip frame with a 3 1/2 Colt 1991 slide and barrel.

No, I just like to build them. You can get quality 1911s for 300 less than I have into this build.

I like to do stuff like that also. I was just curious if there were savings or not. To me not a deal breaker.

Piece of cake. The 1911 can be srripped all the way down to the bare frame with just the use of a pin punch and a flat tip screwdriver.

Anybody looking at building one check out stealtharms build kits.

Alot easier than buying all parts from seperate manufacturers. all you really need is some files/stones, lapping compound etc.. to finish it. dont gotta spend a fortune on all the specialty tools.

Costs more than buying one. but i really enjoyed doing it
