Finally Purchased a Second Pistol

Got a H&K VP9SK, bringing my count up to two.

Yeah, that's a rookie number but it's a big deal since I come from a family that couldn't care less about firearms.

It's not a Shadow 2 or a Colt 1911 but it felt so good in my hands, affordable-ish and it was small enough to be a carry firearm for when I (one day) get my restriction changed or removed. Pretty excited to hand in my amendment form this week!

Lol, by family I meant my upbringing. The wife has been really supportive so that's cool. As for reaching 7 or 8, that may take a while longer. I did try out a limited edition Colt 1911 at the range last night and I think I know what the next purchase is going to have to be...

The VP9 SK will serve you well. ... Perhaps the next purchase would be its big brother the VP9... :pIt is always good to have more than one handgun. I think back to a story I read about a man that stayed behind during a hurricane in Texas . He had a business and went to check up on it. When it was safe to do so. He went through a police checkpoint and they asked if he had any weapons on him . He replied yes and they asked for it .They gave him a receipt and told him in a few weeks he could get it back ......He had more than one on him and only surrendered one . Looters were hitting places at night and was thankful he had a back up.

Guns are like rabbits, they tend to multiply when eating the garden. Put a prudent budget together for ammo and accessories as well as new acquisitions. I just got a couple of new ones myself.

So to all those rookies out there who have a significant other that is not onboard with your gun collection. There are three schools of thought on the subject.

1. Buy guns that look exactly the same. That way you can claim it is the one they know about.

2. Significant others are a dime a dozen, do what you like. If they have a problem the door is open.

3. Suck it up buttercup and go get fitted for a handmaiden’s dress.

My wife has been very supportive! I was actually referring to our respective family background, as in, they're both fairly anti gun or indifferent. I look terrible in dresses anyway.

#1 For sure! My wife can't tell any of pistols apart as she has only seen in their holsters and they are all black.

Some other useful tips, pay the LGS in cash so there isn't a credit card trail that your spouse may discover. If ordering online, such as via GunBroker, to be delivered to your LGS, who can sometimes pay using a postal money order (which usually cost less than $2) at the Post Office or purchase a Mastercard or Visa "credit card" at a grocery or convenient store. Sure there is a small fee to activate the credit card, something like $5-$6, but for me it definitely worth it to avoid the headache of complaints that I spend too much on guns and ammo. I love my wife and I don't complain when she buys things that I think are ridiculous (wife and 3 daughters can add up to a lot of "girlie" crap I don't care about). Likewise, she believes that more than one gun is redundant and pointless so why tell her as long as all the bills get paid.

I'd like to add
#4 When going to the range take empty gun case with you, that way you easily bring a new purchase back in the house without questions.

#5 When asked "when did you get that?" Be vague like "oh this? I've had it for awhile" Just don't specify how long you had it!

#6 Every time your out at a LGS or wally world pick up a box of ammo, doesn't matter if you need it or not sooner or later you will!

Also congrats on the purchase, not a bad blaster (I havent shot the sk, but my buddy has a Vp9 and the little I got to shoot of it it was super nice)

Nice , congrats. If I were looking for another carry gun the VSP9 SK would be right there at the top. I like the fit and feel of it in my hand.

Well it IS Westchester. I wouldn't be surprised. It would be nice though, one day not having to justify exercising a Constitutional right and begging for a chance to enjoy what most other Americans experience without the said begging. Going to stay positive though and enjoy the hell out of it once it's done going through the bureaucratic wringer.
