First time gun owner from Suffern sayin' hello

Hello all. This place look really active which is awesome. Bought my first gun ( Remington 870 with tactical and trap barrels ) from Shootz and Latters in Suffern. Go figure - the day after I purchase, all the gun ranges shut down in the area. Have not been able to fire the weapon at all yet but signs are looking pretty good I might get the chance pretty soon.. I can't wait to come home with a sore shoulder

It looks like my brother in-law found some property in Blooming Grove where we may be able to go shoot. If that doesn't pan out then I will probably jump in the van and head over to Blue Mountain as it appears they are open for shooting.

I noticed they are running classes there which is what made me realize they were open. Not sure I can make that one but I will make one of them really soon. I was going to go up to Sheepdog Warrior but the one from OFTLLC is closer and a bit cheaper. They want the same amount of ammo on hand though so it sounds like plenty of shooting time. Looks like another early June over there will be good timing for me. I still need a few essential items.. like a shit load of ammo

Definitely going to attend the OFT training course over at Blue Mountain.. Hopefully I'll get to shoot a bit before that June 13th date. I ordered an assortment of some ammo so I can try some stuff out. Just waiting on it to arrive. It was hard finding someone that had shells in stock but I found a place in Texas but they are on at least a 5 day delay according to their website.

Why are so many other ranges closed right now though? I guess it's because Blue Mountain is run by the county?

And it's outdoors. Honestly the indoor ranges around here....... you dont want to go to.

That was my thought. There is one in Pearl River that's been open the entire time as they work with Law Enforcement... or that is the reason they game me when I asked how they were able to remain open. But it's only slugs allowed and I don't want to go rent an hour of time to just shoot slugs in a basement. I really want the experience of getting on an outdoor range...
