First year hunting!

Hello everyone, so I decided this year I will start hunting instead of mooching from my friends stock of deer meat lol.
I have never hunted, Ive seen a few threads in here that are useful (gears, clothing, etc) so i wont go into that.
What I would like some help however are the places to hunt. I pulled a 3M this year, while i asked for 3P (since my friends all got 3P and they hunt at stewart) i wasnt able to get one.

Now, are there any good places to hunt in 3M? I live in westchester and was eyeing Sterling but then Ive read that there are no centerfire rifles allowed?

any help and tips would be greatly appreciated.

Stewart State Forest is 3M. I avoid Stewart like the plague during deer season. I'll hunt squirrels and other small game there during the September, January, and February. Shotguns and bows only.

Sterling is too far South for me considering how close I am to the Catskills.

ah ok, i got stewart and sterling WMU the other way around lol. thanks.
i did apply for the sterling hunting permit, to join them and hopefully get a buck, and as well for small game.

anywhere else i can hunt with rifles in 3M?
