I thought this was kind of neat.
I’ve got one I’d like to trap so maybe a CD for lure?Cats gonna be cats
We still have a descent grouse population so I do t want that cat around. I saw it on my game camera and last hunting season I saw it running around a den and swimming in the creek, but it was moving quick and I was 150 yards out. The trapping season is only a few days long but they are supposed to have the nicest fur out of any animal in our area.Ummmmmm yea,
The are the apex predator in ny, known to attack black bears for food.
Nasty damn weasel, the lower 48 wolverine
Anything that catches the fishers attention is possible prey.
Not as silky as mink, although from the same family. Not as plush as beaver. Still, not a bad pelt to have tanned. We still have a descent grouse population so I do t want that cat around. I know they aren’t cats but it’s just easy to say cat. This one on my property is pretty large. I want it gone. Not as silky as mink, although from the same family. Not as plush as beaver. Still, not a bad pelt to have tanned.
On an unrelated note, can we PLEASE stop attaching "CAT" to them ? They're NOT a cat. Not feline in any way, shape, or form.
They can be a real problem if you have poultry, rabbits or other small animals, but in the wild I don't believe they're as devistating to other species as some other predators are. Others might disagree with me on that.
I've seen them work a creek for their meal. Minnows, frogs, snakes, mice, just about anything they can catch they will eat. That doesn't mean they won't kill a turkey or rabbit, they will. Like the rest of the family, they are fierce and put up more of a fight than their size would suggest.
I do t know how true it is but many say they eat rabbits and grouse pretty aggressively. Also tirkey and their Al eggs are common on their menu. We do have a creek on the property and I have seen other weasels their. They are much smaller than this fisher cat. This fisher has to be full grown and looked to be 25-30lbs.They can be a real problem if you have poultry, rabbits or other small animals, but in the wild I don't believe they're as devistating to other species as some other predators are. we have plenty of coyotes. We hear them all night long and even see them during the day at times.Get rid of the fisher and coyotes will move in
