It's always been a thing, though. It's self defense, so long as you don't blow through the crowd at 60mph.
They need to pass a law that makes the protestor organizers and their financial backers liable for damages to your vehicle and psychological counseling as well as legal fees and insurance rate raises.

It's like mad max. Would not happen to me in that scenario. Even that prius is plenty fast to have avoided being boxed. Should have backed into the guy on the motorbike when the truck got in front. If nothing else priuses change gears instantly (I owned one), they are actually amazing for 3 point turns because there is no delay between gear shifts.
IMO that guy would have been entirely justified to gun down the person who broke into his window to pull him from the car. Fuck all that noise.

Here's vid of the pickup that hit the woman. She was begging for it. Truck was being surrounded, drove away. Then she got in front, and the driver slowed to avoid hitting her. Mob kept moving in. He had to defend himself and she was in the way, so tough shit. Zero sympathy.
