Flash Cans...worth it or not?

I searched Flash cans and didn't see a thread so ....

Anyone have thoughts on flash cans? Any real benifits other than freaking out people with a "silencer"?

I think that cosmetically, it may look better than a ho hum muzzle brake with a 15" handguard.

Great at sending sounds down range. Work real nice on shorter barrels. (Shorter barrels are super load)

They will work fine on a 16 inch barrel. If it looks good....go with it.

I have been using the troy claymore on my 308s, it sends all the noise and flash down range.

I'm probably going to get one. I've heard a few complaints from people about the blast from the break on my rifle. The one I'm looking at getting is a Ferfrans break + CRD.

I think they're cool looking on pistols and carbine lengths with longer handguards. In other words, just covered up.

I am looking at either a KAK for $25 or perhaps an ICD BFD for $75.
The Indian Creek unit is two piece with a threaded base and removable cone.
They sell an adapter to use the cone as a vertical grip when not on the muzzle . Im not sure why I'd want to take it off periodically though.
