i bought a 3 pack of led flashlights from costco many years ago, i used them daily for countless years and they still work. but, you can't compare the brightness to the fenix i have. on max brightness it lights up the night sky.

For size and power, along with absolute reliability, you can't beat SUREFIRE products. I have flashlights of all descriptions, bit when I need one "right now and it had better work" I grab one of my Surefire lights. Most of them are powered by 123 batteries, which can be one of the downsides because you may not find them at your local 7-11 type store. That being said, buy a box of 12 batteries when you buy the light. There's a reason most LEO carry high quality lights instead of Chinese Harbor Freight type junk.

I like streamlight. I carry a light everyday and drop them on conrete regularly. Very impressed with durability. Both lights have seen a year of daily carry with no issues.

I have a protac 2L, hi/low uses 2 cr123 batteries. I buy the 12 pack on amazon. I bought this light to turn over my inventory of cr123 batteries for the tlr 1 weapon light I have. Super durable and very bright on hi setting.

I also have a streamlight stylus I got on amazon for $17. Cheap durable aaa batters, tucks in pocket like a pen. Just enough light for everyday tasks. Not a tactical light up the night flashlight.

I might have over 50 flashlights.

The surefire are good lights but one can get better ones with less money.

On the everyday/univeral use I was surpried with this unusual suspect...

I have a few of rayvac (one on every car and bike) and they are pretty indestructible.

They have a small one that uses 2 AA batteries (the most popular)
Has rugged rubber ends and it is not light like some pussy lights.
Waterproof, shockproof, can run them over with the car and still work.
The consumer reports guys tested them against some costing 10 times more and it was not worth it.
Quite inexpensive.

This is not to substitute some high end super power lights and they are quite spartan but for the average use
to have anywhere in the car, boat and what not they are great for the price. High and low only.
Enought to see out to 100 yards if needed. otherwise look at some of the 1000 lumens
and up but those have to have specialty batteries or heavy ones to be decent.

Again, my SHTF plan (whatever that means) relies on AA compatible devices becuase
the chances one can find those in toys, electronic appliances and not alwyas the
more compact and expensive batteries.

I have Surefire P2X and Streamlight Protac HL. I like the Streamlight because it's waterproof but had to send it in once for warranty because it stopped working. My Surefire always works

I have a pair of coleman CT70f, they are ridiculously bright flashlights. Run on double AA's and lasts for hours and hours on high power, I believe this model is disc, but wallyworld still has them sometimes. for a 30 dollar flashlight, these things are stupidly bright lights and built like a tank. I wish i picked up a pair to keep NIB.
