Now THAT is a propaganda title if I ever did see one.
"Woe is me, the persecuted worshiper of god! :'("
Umm, no, they denied that right to EVERYONE in those places. And in fact a cursory look at Florida CCW law says it's not illegal anyway. So what is this now?
It shouldn't be a government decision it should be a church by church decision treating them like a private business. You get to pick your place of worship based upon the congregations sovereign decisions. Churches are not public space. If gubbermint were to pass this, would this violate separation of church and state?
It's not up to the legislature to decide what "Private" businesses may allow, or not on their property within what is an already lawful activity. Shall the legislature decide next what's good for you in coffee houses? Maybe children's playgrounds. Or decide how much soda you can drink or be served? How many lbs of beef you can buy in a week?
The thought process of the legislature needing to control every aspect of a free citizens life is so far out of this world and normal thinking it isn't even funny! Whomever introduced that Bill should be rode out of town on a donkey!
The bill was imprudent, unneeded, and legally redundant in Florida. Unless a private business deems their property to be gun-free, then existing Florida concealed carry laws are already in effect.
I have said it before and will say it again - this is the long con. The dems want full and complete disarmament of the populace and will wait 20 years, 50 years 100 years, but they will get it. One chip in the stone over and over and over and before you know it we are unable to defend ourselves from socialism and tyranny. The End.
I don't want to derail this thread, however Devildogs' above post makes me think again on something which I often do. I feel like the tempo of attempted gun control and disarming the people has picked up pace over the last several years as though there is a deadline that needs to met. I'm not refuting that the disarmament agenda is the long con and has been going on since the 1934 NFA, but there seems to be an ever escalating push toward removing firearms from the citizenry. From 1934 it was thirty four years before another major act was passed in 1968. Then it was eighteen years between the 1968 GCA to the 1986 FOPA (which was an overall loss for gun ownership with the Hughes Amendment). Then seven years from FOPA to the 1993 Brady Act. Then one year to the 1994 AWB and since it's sunsetting it seems like there is some sort of anti gun legislation every session of congress to further infringe upon our rights. Now we are hearing actual calls to repeal the 2nd Amendment (which even a few years ago would be political suicide). It just has the feeling that there is a timeframe in which we must be disarmed. Are we reaching the end of the "long con"? It seems to me, in my opinion, if the globalists just waited another 10 years (or maybe even less) that this could be accomplished with far less resistance and way more support as more indoctrinated youth become voters and many of us age and will be unable to resist. As we are now, it seems like a frenzy to get us disarmed which would be much easier by waiting just a few more years. Why this frantic push? With the escalation of mass shooting events (of which, I believe, many are false flag events whether or not people are actually harmed), criminal perpetrations like the Fast and Furious, and the constant negative propaganda there is hardly a day that passes that guns are demonized and calls for more restrictions. Is there a deadline that must be met by the globalists? Is there some reason not to wait just a few years, when I believe these measures could be far more easily accomplished? Is there an event looming for which they need us disarmed? Just some food for thought.
