I saw this and found this very interesting. I can see this backfiring because if felons get boting rights restored will their 2A rights get restored. It seems like a logical leap to me.

I know it’s a hot topic here, but I do thing some/most felons should not have gun rights if they were violent felons. Does anyone think this will lead to their guns rights being restored. I’m sure it will come up and some one will try it!!

If they aren't incarcerated and paid their debt to society, they should be allowed to vote or keep and carry guns.

If they are so dangerous that they cannot vote or keep and carry a gun, they should still be in prison.

I think after X years of being released, somewhere more than 2 but less than 7, a felon should be considered a regular member of society. Gun rights, voting rights, etc. Like a prior post said, if you cant trust em once they're freed they shouldnt be out.

Don't confuse parole to which they agree to do X to be released early vs. Someone who serves his full sentence / debt paid. Paroled they can ask you to agree o anything your on probation. Are you on probation after serving a full sentence?

If an entire sentence is completed, all Rights should be restored.

Someone that commits a crime twenty years ago should not have to pay for that crime for his entire life.

If the person is so bad that his rights cannot be exercised, he should never leave jail.

There are procedures in place for felons that wish to have their rights restored. Maybe some of this time lines and requirements can be streamlined for some, depending on their crime, but I see no problem with having a procedure and requirements that must be met.

Depends if they served a full sentence ... most forget the debt isn't paid when these guys get out, they agree to XYZ for early release. I do agree if they cant be trusted then they should be serving life. There are violent crimes that people should not see the light of day for. To much data supports that violent offenders re-offend and do not deserve to be on the streets. A violent felony is 10 years so its a catch 22 isn't it.

That depends on the crime.

Sometimes they should pay WITH their life.
