You’re correct. My grandma grew up during the depression and he hoarded food but most of it was never eaten and sat in her basement to rot. She died and now it’s all in a landfill. Same with her sisters and my grandpa’s clothes. She couldn’t part with them to donate them and they got all funky and moldy in her basement so to the landfill they went. So, I actually read the article. Most of the writing is correct, Food hoarding and prepping is not the same.
I know a few people that hoard food, not because of the reasons many here hoard, they hoard out of life experience. Like stated in the article, they were poor when younger and food was not always there.
Many Americans, we prepare. We understand the revolving in and out food; rotating. Most of us are good at what we do, so there is little to no waste.
I dare say most all those who lived through or grew up in the Great Depression have passed away, and with it their steadfast resolve to not discard anything, because it might be highly useful or prized later, there are still those who've lived hard times, embracing that same mentality of self reliance, and of course there are those who live frugally. We had a neighbor that was an Orphan during the GD, worked the CCC Camp, became a Marine, fought in the Pacific, retired from the Rail Road: He had money, but still wore shirts with so many repairs you couldn't tell what was original, boxes, bins, cabinets of hardware, and new clothes that he never wore....again, he saved everything. You’re correct. {Police/Press Interview} "...nobody needs that much ammunition or that many Guns...threat to the whole neighborhood...neighbors described him as 'quiet and keeping to himself'...could have blown up the whole Block!.."I can only imagine what they have to say about ammo hoarding
"Just drop the trailer over there by the others...."{Police/Press Interview} "...nobody needs that much ammunition or that many Guns...threat to the whole neighborhood...neighbors described him as 'quiet and keeping to himself'...could have blown up the whole Block!.."
Any more questions?
IMHO "enough" ammunition is when it arrives by Freight Truck and requires a Fork Lift.
