For Trappers...yes or no?

Yesterday morning, within 50' of a road, easily seen by passers-by. Seems like it would just give anti-trappers more crap to bitch about. Would you trap further from the road, out of sight - or doesn't it make a damn, -- just wondering? No problem with you trapping guys here, just saying.

Looks like his set was not done correctly. Beaver sets are usually designed to down them quickly. I'd be ok with that close to a road if it was rigged right to drown. I'd be more concerned with loosing my equipment like that.

It is possible the water dropped but usually you have to take that into account when setting. A trap is usually attached to a drowning line. Staked at the land and a heavy weight tossed out deep. A 1 way slide lock allows the beaver to be caught, the instinctively dive for deep water for cover and can't go back up the line or swim up for air because the weight and will drown quick. No one sees it and it works great.

Water level in this stream may have fluctuated in the past week or so - like whauberger said - I thought this should have been a drowning set. Beaver was gone early this morning, so trap was probably checked properly, just saying.

Most likely the water level dropped faster then expected but they got what they were looking for so all good
