"Foregrip" vs. Pistol Grip vs. what the he** can I use?

Sorry because I know this probably has been asked many times, but the search I did was completely inconclusive. I have a VEPR AK with a Carolina Shooters Supply aluminum forearm. Very nice, but it gets hotter than hell after a few magazines. Is a flat "foregrip" like this "legal" (FUAC) or do I need something that is completely flat with no protrusions at all?

Any grip is illegal if the rifle is semiautomatic and can accept a detachable magazine. Any grip. Angled, straight down, sideways, ect.

Thanks. That law is so poorly written as to be maddening. I'll look into fabricating an insulator and be done with it.

If you have a rail (and I'm assuming you do, because the angled grip in your picture mounts to one) then you can buy a package of Magpul XTM Enhanced Rail Covers. Just snap them in place, and you're done.

Handstops aren’t grips. Angles foregrips are grips. Penal law 265 specifically says ...

Well we are all on our own it seems as NYS will never issue any guidance (FUAC) but literal reading of PL 265.00.20

Would seem to rule out any angled grip. Not sure what a hand stop is so I'll leave it to your interpretation.

Personally I think it's all bullshit so do what you're comfortable with.

Saw a guy use a piece of wire to reach down and pull back the nose ''safety'' on his Bostitch...............full auto 16's incoming!! His buddy was in the portojohn. Guy w/ the Bostitch had him pinned down from the roof. They don't fly like an arrow but from that distance would probably still sting !!
