I disagree with his statements that the 1911 wasn't effective because German WWI hospital reports didn't have many patients wounded by a .45.

I've always thought that the bad rap given to the M1 Carbine was due to the fact that it was put into use in roles for it was never designed. For the technology of the era it did what it was supposed to do. A lightweight personal defense weapon for shorter ranges. Easier to train troops to use with a good degree of accuracy. Never was meant to be the main service rifle.
I can't quite put into words why, but this gun has a certain allure over me. It has a humble sexiness about it that I've always wanted.

I have a modern M1 made by action arms (got it with my NRA instructor discount) and have a Burris FF3 mounted on it. Easily shoots 2MOA at 100 yards. Running Buffalo Bore ammo through it, sits in the den easily accessible to the front door. One of my home defense guns.
