In a rather interesting part of last Friday’s interview between former CIA Director John Brennan and MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, Mr. Brennan outlined what makes a criminal conspiracy.

When you consider the issues surrounding Russian influence agent Oleg Deripaska and his centrality to many of the events, well, Brennan is actually -and ironically- outlining the criminal conspiracy of the DOJ and FBI. [Watch the part at 15:14 prompted]

Transcript – @15:14 Maddow: What would amount, in your mind, in intelligence terms, to an American being a part of that conspiracy; the one that’s been defined by Robert Mueller already?

Brennan: “I will leave it to the lawyers and to the courts to decide if something is criminal or not. In my mind, it requires someone to knowingly support the efforts of a foreign government to interfere in U.S. domestic politics and especially an election.” – “And so, any American who was working with the Russians, or working with an intermediaries who were working with Russians; and those Americans who knowingly tried to collude, conspire, and to work with them in order to advance their political objectives here in the states, I think that rises to the level of conspiracy.”

So let’s look at this – while keeping in mind that Oleg Deripaska is a Russian political influence agent, the source of some unknown amount of Chris Steele’s information, and a Russian operative the FBI specifically engaged with in their political investigative efforts.

Some really interesting things going on.
Im not just sitting down and pushing play. Im watching this at several different speeds, stopping it at key points, and looking for certain things.

Watch 2:40- Avoiding eye contact & extreme irritability in his seat as he is talking at that moment. Hes telling a lie. A big one
Just before that though...'when some one called me to tell me sarah huckabee sanders ...' look at the body language at that part. 2:20
When he says that, hes TELLING THE TRUTH. The admin processed this revoke w NO leaks, & he never dreamed they'd go through w this. He was blindsided.
He goes on to say 'im fine, its fine' like hes trying to shrug it off- He says that and i picture the dog sitting at a table in burning kitchen saying 'this is fine everything is fine' meme
One more thing: 2:50- 'not shocked given all the appalling things trump has done' looks up, and true disgust on his face. Its personal. For some reason brennan actually personally hates trump. This wasnt just ideology and politics. Brennan has a personal vendetta.

Listen- its now CLEAR to ME at least that Brennan was *absolutely* 100% THE man in charge of ALL of this. Lynch, comey, yates- robert hannigan at GCHQ, Halper & misfud, strzok, all of them reported to him directly
His reactions in this interview reveal a LOT. It sticks in my craw to say it, but Maddow was asking him tough questions. Questions that genuinely offended him.
At one point at 304 he says 'it flies in the face of (and then emphasizes) TRADITIONAL PRACTICES...' He was BETTING ON the president not doing this.
He emphasized it w tone, volume AND body language. It strongly inplies ALL of them were ABSOLUTELY trafficking in class info to leak, & depending on people in doj & fbi to keep them abrest of investigations into them. Thats now gone.
But NONE of the conspirators' sources left inside heard about whether the admin was seriously doing the revoke or not. NO LEAKS.
We found out this week bruce ohr was inserting himself into shit he wasn't assigned- RR said that. You know all kinds of leftover staffers are too, but NO LEAKS. Anyone heard a peep fr the Sessions, Huber, ECW, Wray, Horowitz team on FISA? NO...
When he goes on: 'traditional practice *as well as common sense & natl security*....' He blinks 3x in 1.1 seconds and looks down. Hes lying. He knows that he is a security risk. Hes trying to spin it but his body language screams deception.
He is very very angry at this. Its not just a personal slight; its not just loss of income- they are all losing clearances. They thought hed never do this...the plan was to retain access and use it to avoid criminal prosecution.
And that was just taken away from THEM, not him. Listen to his words, theyre subtle- 'clearances should never never be used for political purposes! These are solemn!' (Paraphrasing)
He made it a point to say 'and not just me'- He is talking about the loss of access by secret society right there at the 3min mark.

The John Brennan Interview

Former CIA Director John Brennan gave an interview on The Maddow Show. It turned out to be more interesting than one might have thought – and didn’t go as Maddow so clearly hoped.

As you read, keep forefront a simple fact. This man was the Director of the CIA. He was also the primary leader of the failed Soft Coup attempt.

Maddow painfully tries to insert innuendos and half-truths but some interesting segments come forth just the same.

Particularly the segment on incidental collection and the Fusion Center. Additionally, Brennan inadvertently describes his own actions – and those of Steele and the Clinton Campaign – when he references foreign collusion.

Both video and transcript are further down. When you watch the video, pay close attention to Brennan’s body language – particularly his hands…

Major Points:

Brennan was not notified by either the White House or the CIA of his actual security clearance revocation. Brennan found out when someone called him during the Sarah Huckabee-Sanders Podium Announcement. I found this to be of significance. Watch Brennan’s body language. I think he found it significant as well (2:20 mark).

Brennan repeatedly tried to deny he actually said President Trump was guilty of treason. “Sometimes my Irish comes out and in my tweets and I did say that it rises to and exceeds the level of high crimes and misdemeanors and nothing short of treasonous.” Brennan would later elaborate. Poorly (starts at 9:30 mark – exchange below at 11:44 mark):

BRENNAN: I said it was nothing short of treasonous. I didn’t mean that he committed treason. But it was a term that I used, nothing short of treasonous.

MADDOW: You didn’t mean that he committed treason?

BRENNAN: I said it was nothing short of treasonous. That was the term I used, yes.

MADDOW: If we diagram the sentence, nothing short of treasonous means it’s treason.

Brennan would repeatedly try to soften the stance and tenor of prior comments.

Brennan inadvertently exposed his inaction & ineptitude Regarding Syria: “I stuck my neck out a number of times particularly on Syria to say, no, we need to be able to work with the Russians to be able to bring this mass carnage to a halt. But time after time, the Russians, you know, would feign sincerity better than anybody I’ve ever known.” (13:05 mark)

Brennan became suddenly deferential to the Mueller Investigation (13:27 mark):

BRENNAN: I do believe we need to get this behind us. I don’t want this to, you know, roil the waters forever.

MADDOW: How do we get this behind us? I mean, you’re suggesting that there’s things that we do not yet know that have not yet been adjudicated or laid fairly before the American people about the president and his connection with what happened to Russia. Do we need to know that in order to move on or should we decide to move on before we know?

BRENNAN: It’s called the Mueller investigation. It’s called the duly appointed special counsel who has given the mandate to investigate what Russia did in terms of interference in our presidential election.

Brennan walked back the Trump-Russian Collusion/Conspiracy talk (14:24 mark) – and inadvertently described his own involvement – along with that of Steele and the Clinton Campaign:

MADDOW: Mueller’s indictment about the GRU, about Russian military intelligence lays out in black and white, in great detail an alleged criminal conspiracy to illegally sway the U.S. election. It’s named conspirators, it describes what they did. There was an agreement among multiple actors to pursue an aim and then they took actions in pursuit of that aim.

So, they’ve defined a criminal conspiracy existing in the world.

BRENNAN: On the part of a foreign government, which you need. A foreign government.

MADDOW: But because that conspiracy has been defined, what would an American have to do to be considered part of that conspiracy? If you’ve got a foreign conspiracy orchestrated by a foreign government, what does it mean to have an American abetter? What does it mean for an America – I mean, we talk – the word collusion is become, you know, refrigerator poetry.

And it’s used by anybody for any reason, and oftentimes incoherently. But what would amount in your mind, to intelligence terms, to an American being a part of that conspiracy, the one that’s been defined by Robert Mueller already?

BRENNAN: I will leave it to the lawyers and the courts to decide whether something is criminal or not. But in my mind, it requires someone to knowingly support the efforts of a foreign government to interfere in U.S. domestic politics and especially an election.

And so, any American who was working with the Russians, or working with intermediaries who are working with the Russians, and those Americans who knowingly tried to collude, conspire and to work with them in order to advance their political objectives here in the States, I think that rises to the level of conspiracy.

…Now, a lot depends on what Robert Mueller has been able to uncover. Maybe there’s none of that.

Brennan walked back the Trump-Russia Collusion. He also inadvertently described his actions with UK and other foreign Intelligence agencies in tandem with the Steele and the Clinton Campaign:

It requires someone to knowingly support the efforts of a foreign government to interfere in U.S. domestic politics and especially an election.

That’s a pretty ironic statement lacking in any level of self-awareness. Guilty as self-charged.

On several occasions Brennan references “things he’s learned” since leaving the CIA Directorship. None of the events Brennan refers to denote crimes or wrongdoing from President Trump. Nor are they particularly big news (16:12 mark):

BRENNAN: So many things I learned since I left office because of what has appeared in the press. You know, the Trump Tower meeting with Don Jr. and others. And also when I was CIA director, I didn’t know that it was the day that Mr. Trump basically gave a public call to the Russians to find Hillary Clinton’s e-mails, that it was in fact the same day that the GRU was actively looking for it.

Maddow keeps trying to get Brennan to make damning statements but Brennan is suddenly cautious:

BRENNAN: I don’t know whether any of that rises to the level of conspiracy and whether any of that conspiracy rises to the level of criminal liability for that conspiracy.

Which raises the question, if these are noteworthy events – significant pieces of new information in Brennan’s view – what information was he using to push the entire Russia-Trump Narrative. Rumors? Gossip? A feeling?

Maddow asked Brennan about his comments before Congress. Which were serious and documented. Brennan suddenly becomes verbally…skittish (16:45 mark):

MADDOW: You described in detail before Congress that in the summer of 2016, you at CIA were alarmed by, said your radar went up about the number of contracts between Russian officials and U.S. persons at a time that Russia was mounting this interference campaign…What was it that put your alarm up?

BRENNAN: As I said in my op-ed, myself and Jim Comey and Mike Rogers at the NSA, we talked about the importance of making sure that our radar, our collection radar was up so that we had early indications – or be able to uncover – any effort on the part of the Russians to work with American citizens, the American citizens were reaching out to the Russians, as well, to see what they could get, see if they could any dirt on Hillary Clinton.

So, my radar was going because I knew the Russians were engaged in this effort and I was aware of contacts with American citizens – that may have been totally innocent on the American citizens’ part and maybe they weren’t abetting at all.

Brennan had nothing. Some Americans had talked to some Russians. Nothing untoward was known. As for Admiral Rogers, he disagreed with Brennan’s assessment on Russia. Rogers did so formally:

The Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) contained one significant caveat: CIA and FBI have high confidence in this judgment; NSA has only moderate confidence.
